Robbie Coltrane is facing his biggest battle after being left confined to a wheelchair after his osteoarthritis diagnosis left him in crippling pain.

The 69-year-old star of the Harry Potter franchise, in which he plays friendly giant Rubeus Hagrid, is unable to walk as he waits for knee surgery, that could change his life.

The Cracker actor was launching Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike ride in Universal Orlando, in his first public appearance since being wheelchair bound.

Appearing at the press event at the Renaissance Hotel in London, Robbie is "due a new knee," which would give him a chance of “leaping around like an elf.”

the headline sounds very gloomy, but if what he needs is a knee replacement, there can be a bright outcome.  however, he should lose a lot of weight before surgery.  excess weight makes the recovery longer and more painful, and decreases the chances of success.  i've had both knees done, and had pretty good results.

I had bad pains in my knee. I took some Ayurvedic (indian traditional) herbal pills just within 3 to 4 hours the pains were gone and never came back. (only took eight pills)

I had taken it for shoulder pains and it worked like miracle. (took 6 pills )

No side effects because it's all herbs. The good thing is the pain didn't come back.

that's good for you, well done.   for me, who had bone on bone contact in both knees,  knee replacements were the only thing that worked for me.  once the cartilage is all destroyed and worn away, there aren't many options.

I doubt he'll read this thread, but hope the replacements work. He 's too young for us to lose him, but please Robbie, lose some weight.

BTW, thanks for Cracker. It was brilliant. I still think of that bit in the supermarket when I go through the 12 items checkout.

weight loss is essential before a knee replacement
