DFT inspects factories producing goods to be exported to US

BANGKOK, 18th March 2019 (NNT) - The Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) has rigorously inspected factories to prevent them from using false country of origin labels on products exported to the United States, particularly goods under the US trade countermeasures.

Chao Phraya river bridge in Uthai Thani 85 percent complete

UTHAI THANI, 18 March 2019 (NNT) - Thailand’s Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith has presided over a ceremony relating to the construction of a bridge connecting Chai Nat and Uthai Thani. The bridge, crossing Chao Phraya River, will shorten trips between the two provinces by more than 25 kilometers.

Sacks of meth pills found in Lampang woods

Police seized 140,000 methamphetamine pills packed in fertilizer sacks that has been left for collection in a wooded area in Lampang's Mueang district on Sunday afternoon, Khelang Nakhon superintendant Pol Colonel Sopon Polkantha said on Monday, as his team revealed their find prior to sending the drugs out for forensic testing.

Silence falls on plan to close ’selfie beach’ near Phuket Airport

PHUKET: Airports of Thailand (AoT) management at Phuket International Airport have still yet to make any public announcement to confirm – or even clarify – the possible closure of the beach at the end of the runway due to safety concerns, despite holding a meeting to define the boundaries of the expanded safety zone last Thursday (Mar 14).

Thai central bank seen holding key rate on Wednesday as growth slows, risks rise

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's central bank is expected to keep its benchmark policy rate steady on Wednesday for a second straight review after a hike in December, a Reuters poll showed, in a bid to support a slowing economy while inflation remained low.

EC claims yesterday’s ballots are safe and secure

The Election Commission says all yesterday’s ballots are secure. They’ve told a suspicious media that they, and members of political parties, are allowed to check the security of yesterday’s paper ballots at Thai Post offices and police stations around the country where they are being stored before heading to Thailand Post’s HQ in Bangkok today.
