I have a non imm o (marriage) and are australian, my visa needs extending next month, i have just spent a fair amount investing in business here and dont have the 400k in the bank, and my work permit has only just come thru so havent been paying yet to get 3 months of tax in before the extension.

Is my best option to fly back home (Melbourne) to get a multiple entry? If so is it just a copy of house reg, id card and marriage cert needed?

I have a couple of thai companies and could do a non imm B, but think that may complicate things down the track.

Hello bazmlb - the points you make are all valid. Sorry I don't have any tangible answers. However, your points and the myriad similar concerns about Thai visas that are broached on this forum highlight the incessent confusion that's built in to getting Thai visas. tens of thousands of (at least) moderately intelligent farang are continually stymied when trying to comply with regulations that are:

1. counter-productive (the rules dissuade good contributors to Thailand).

2. family breaking (cause families to split up)

3. cause unnecessary expenses (flying jets to other continents to comply)

4. contribute to environmental degradation (jets rip big gashes in the lower atmosphere - and spew mega amounts of pollution throughout. Plus they impact adversely on the communities near airports).

5. the rules are not consistant. A farang can go to ten Thai consulates and get ten different interpretations. Sometimes office staff are downright rude and discriminating.

....and more, as evidenced by the thousands of frustrated posts on this forum.

Good luck bazmlb, and know that there are tens of thousands of farang in the same boat - feeling confused, frustrated, discriminated against, and roundly annoyed at the ineptness of the Thai immigration authorities.

Can you not go to Penang or somewhere and get a single entry Non Imm O which would give you 3 months to get the required amount of tax records proving a monthly income of 40,000 Baht.

I could, how hard is it to get in penang or laos?

i am lucky in my wife earns over half the required amount already so i really only need a small income from what i am doing to get the 40k mark. (better as i only have to pay tax on a smaller amount as tax for me is a lot higher than her)

This part isnt so bad as a return trip is cheaper than the solicitor preparing the necessary documents, i was told its like if you go home, means your not wanted by the police if you get in and out so no police check need, you have the funds to fly there so must be enough money comming in so no need to meet any requirements there too, the further you go from thai the easy the visa gets.

Single entry in Penang, no problem. Take marriage certificate and copy plus signed copy of wifes ID Card.

Also no police checks are needed for the 12 month extension when that time comes round.

There are people on this forum with more knoledge (and better spelling) than me , hopefully they will post soon.
