I'd buy that if you'll grant that most Democrats are center right. It's all relative.

If you compare that to most western political parties (ie non US) the you’d be about right.

Another champagne socialist luvvee liberal.

Why is it people who made very large amounts of money, from their parents and entertainment, suddenly feel empowered to lecture and rule everyone else.

How many refugee families has he taken into his many mansions? Does he have private security to ensure he's never the victim of crime?

Wonder if his tax returns are all filed and available.

Muslim Bruneians should also be excommunicated if they are living anywhere else etc for supporting such a primitive and stupid ruler!

In one of the news reports I read, there was only a canned statement from the Brunei government -- no one was coming forth to publicly explain or answer questions -- basically saying their ruling sultan didn't necessarily expect his own citizens to support or favor these new laws. But he expected his citizens should support their government "as their government supports them," pretty much just that.

Elsewhere, I believe I read, the vast majority of citizens in Brunei are employed by the government there in one way or another, and they get free education, free health care, subsidized housing, etc etc... because of all the oil dollars that come pouring in... Unless, of course, they end up getting stoned to death for adultery or being gay.  :w00t:

True, but often they get away with 'only' 500 lashes of the whip and a dozen of years in jail. ????

I believe there are some offenses where you can still get away with crucifixion in Saudi (first offense only I would guess)
