do you just camp these forums looking for someone to challenge or disagree with

how about offering something constructive instead of offering nothing

I come to read this forum, not these forums, because I have an interest in what is hilariously said by some people posting here, that's the point of a forum.

When you say "constructive" do you mean such as your assertion, with no evidence, that the fraudster's claim about what he did was false?   I can't see anything constructive about that.

To answer your questions I do not reside in Thailand anymore I am back in Australia

and no it does not act as a debit card like the one I had before you can use it for

shopping or withdraw cash from the ATM it will not work overseas and can't be

used to pay bills on line, so I guess you still in Thailand I do not know the rules

in Thailand now you would have to talk to your bank in Thailand

I just can't understand how they got hold of my card number and also the security

number at the back of my card and went on a spending spree in city's where

I have not been for many years the good thing is I will get the money reimbursed

from the the bank sorry can't help you more but thanks for the inquiry

Ok. Thanks for the info. I know such cards are available in USA too. I live in Thailand now and will ask my bank.

I rarely use the card for anything but atm cash withdrawals here. Never for petty things like restaurants, hotels, etc. I do use it for Lazada/Shopee online shopping though. In America it's restaurants that take your card that can see the code and card number, but offenses are rare. Let's face it, there are now thousands of different scams and it's a full time job knowing and protecting against all of them.

Especially bizarre that your card is issued from an Australian bank. The only way I can think that someone got the verification code on the back of your card was an inside job at the bank here, but an Aussie bank card? Hmmmmm.

Good that you'll get the money refunded but what a nuisance. Bad that the perpetrators will get a free ride.

Pretty sad that I just installed a network sniffer to check for hidden cams in my rental house.

Modern life. It'll be the death of me eventually. ☠️????

Thanks WC.

my wife worked for a credit union in California.  A few people that worked there got busted for stealing funds from customers accounts.  I am sure it happens much more often than we are ever informed of.

My mom worked her way up to branch manager in Virginia.  She said the girls' boyfriends were usually the prime suspect.  One of them stole a stack of blank money orders..FBI came and arrested her.

Frauds, scams occur everywhere in the world. Due to ignorance, choice or just racism some people choose to have tunnel vision. Just an example here

Proof that bank fraud happens in the west ? Are you serious ? I worked in that industry and THOUSANDS of attempts are made EVERY DAY on UK banks - many successful. ATM fraud is endemic there!

Do you want to have another go ?

By the employees???

Many differences between stolen credit card numbers  and actual "embezzlement". The latter pertains to a financial institution's employee who attempted to disguise and/or cover up that attempted "subverting" of funds. These people who for what ever reason resort  to this and then get nailed, I suspect that in at least in some cases, there's a "dire" situation where logic is out-ruled by impulse caused by the situation. And I get that too, but laws are there for whatever reasons.

And then there are those "spoiled" individuals- whether farang or native Thai. Assuming there are no males who have absolutely haveno capacity to deal with life's varied instances. Males in Thailand (not to generalize) have never been taught how to react within reason- without even thinking about the archaaic response - to enjoy without such distraction. To each his/her own. And then again. I wonder "why" the Chinese Embassy would continue the Thai tourism after 36 helpless tourists lost their lives. And the Chinese Embassy does not give a shit. I certainly would wonder why 36 people were lost. Obviously, the half-assed , make-shift. No bother....Hope you are well
