I searched the forum before posting for nokia gmail and ais and nothing was found. Strange!

Has anyone setup the http://gmail.com mobile gmail service on their nokia with AIS yet? I was able to download their program for my symbian operating system and set it up, however, some settings are incorrect - I'm guessing the AIS smtp server since I don't think I can just use GMAIL's servers - I need AIS SMTP I think...

I have enabled pop3 access in my gmail account settings - so that part should be ok.

It seems that I sent something - but I didn't get the response I should have if it actually made it there.

Anyone?

I use my N-80 to check my gmail. I remember that it was VERY easy to set up. In fact I think all I had to do was to put the gmail provided link in the phone and gmail downloaded and did the rest. I don't use the phone's mail system. Gmail is only in my shortcuts area. It works great.

EDIT - I did sign up for AIS GPRS service because of the bargain price but gmail worked on the regular service just fine also. If you want to know any of my phone's settings, I'll try to find them but I didn't set anything special.

Hmm, maybe I did too much then... Yes, it was very easy to download and get running, but then I went into the settings and added outgoing and incoming servers - which maybe I shouldn't have.

I'm still playing with it... :|

Will this work with the 1 to Call system ?

AIS is 1-2 Call. Yes, it works great and loads gmail faster than my desktop computer and Ipstar. To buy a AIS GPRS package, dial *138 and select your options. I think I get 300 minutes per month for 53 1/2 baht. To check your AIS GPRS balance dial *139.

Thanks , I am playing with that now.

As with Gary, I just downloaded it from the site and it just kinda took care of itself and definitely didn't need any techincal set-up wizardry. Nokia 6280 - AIS 1-2 Call.

Update on progress...

I have an e65 - it has TOO MUCH stuff for me to get ahold on in 20 hours of use.

I have now somehow managed to get gmail emails by setting up my email service with pop3 incoming servers port 995 and smtp gmail outgoing server with port 445. I had to enable SSL security. I had to choose an "Access point" which was the rough part. I figured it was AIS GPRS INTERNET or something like that -

But, when I chose AIS WAP - that worked for some reason.

So now - I have Gmail. I can send and receive attachments - which that special gmail program that I downloaded at first - cannot do. No attachments on that service!

I was able to post a video to youtube as well as a photo and text to one of my blogs. I'm psyched.

Guess I'll uninstall the gmail program.

Phones have become WAY too complicated since I bailed out of the technology field 2 years ago.

SMS, MMS, WIFI, WLAN, EDGE, 3G, HSDA?, SYMBIAN, LINUX, PUSHMAIL, Bluetooth, Infrared, USB1 and 2, Data cables....

So much to learn about... good thing I'm doing nothing for days at a time!
