Next time i intend to go down the marriage route at Jomtien , rather than let 400,000 languish in a bank till i die ,so is it right that they are one of the only immigration centers that want your passport translated and sent to the Embassy in BKK for authentication?

There is no requirement to have you passport translated for any extension of stay application at immigration.

I think you are confusing it with registering a marriage at an Amphoe that some do want.

Hi ,i was talking to a translator today and he told me that my passport had to be sent of to the Embassy to be "stamped" also Jomtien was the only immigration that required this , to be honest i could not understand why

ps yes i know about the Ampho , also we were married in the UK and i have had the certificate registered(authenticated) at Milton Keynes and at the Thai embassy in London

I'm ditto'ing that

Some amphoe's are demanding a certified translation of your passport before registering a marriage.

I know that from bitter experience of having to make another trip to BKK and get it translated and certified at MFA, after being down there to get the certificate of 'freedom to marry'.

Nobody told me at the time my passport would need to be translated and certified!

I think somebody was trying to sell you something you certainly do not need.

I am not aware of any immigration office that wants it done and have never heard of it being required.

That is required for Banglamung Amphoe to get married - not Jomtien Immigration for an extension.  Not even the non-o-stamp lady in Jomtien has been reported to pull this trick.

Maybe Banglamung also wants it to get a Kor Ror 22 from your translated foreign marriage certificate.
