Karma is existence if you believe in Karma, and even you do not believe or say you dont believe,  your subconscious works in mysterious ways, and it might be or feel real.

There is so many ways our brain can take us for a ride if we want to believe, or someone manage to plant a seed to lead you on to their path of thinking or living.

It's all a big misunderstanding.

Forget the comment about 8 year olds.

Karma may be complex / nuanced ... and different people may interpret it differently.

A few people on here have already offered up some good definitions.

Do we need to turn this into a competition of definitions?

I just didn't like Tippaporn's comments where he dismissed the concept entirely with what to me appears to be mumbo jumbo.

As long as people are discussing it, it's good.

Tippaporn completely dismissed it. I think it's better if people discuss it.

Sorry, I'm taking a break from this thread.

I might check in once a week or so.

The comments and discussions here are interesting, but I don't have time to respond.

I didn't dismiss the concept.  I merely pointed out that the accepted way in which Karma works is in gross error.

I don't pretend to know what karma is all about, but I have an idea of what it is not. And I don't believe for a second that it's some sort of divine punishment or soul retribution for past misdeeds.

This speaks to me...
"The basic idea of karma is not punishment. Karma presents the opportunity for development; to make use of opportunities that were not taken advantage of, to fill in gaps of ignorance, to enlarge understanding through experience, to do what should be done."
—TES8 Session 388 December 20, 1967

It speaks to me, too.

sorry, i need to ask.

is this a thread or a cult?

you guys found your little corner of the forum to operate your cult?

nobody cares what terms you like or don't like.

You wouldn't know until you joined.  I doubt you could afford the monthly dues.  They're rather steep.

I understand.

And you must also understand that when I read stuff like that, coupled with "mumbo jumbo" (a term I very much dislike), my BS alarm bells go in overdrive. ????

Talk to you soon.

Mumbo jumbo makes up for some of the best opinions here.  One of the best and useful inventions ever.

Religions IMO depend on having people believe that they need saving, and they need the men in funny hats to save them by interceding with god, for a price.

Being saved comes at the cost of your savings.  God likes money.

If that's true, why are my "rewards" so minor and my "punishments" so major?

It's not like I'm an evil person, though I make mistakes, as do everyone.

Maybe you truly are evil but you don't think you are?  The mind can play terrible jokes on people.  Go ask Hummin.

Had you, or seth stopped there I'd agree, but driving full tilt into the weeds loses me.

The commonly accepted meaning of "beginning" is satisfactory to me. Before the beginning there was nothing, and then after the beginning there was the universe to be. I don't need more than that.

Yes you do.  You need an ending.

I like the term mumbo-jumbo, it sounds funny, although it smells a little of "white- supremacist".

If you look better, you may find that every one of the very few regular contributors have different ideas.

How different,  you have no idea ????

What, are you telling me everyone disagrees with me??  I'm hurt.  And maybe never coming back, too.

If you believe that, that might be true, who really knows? All religion is connected, that's all I believe

Well, if God was your dad what do you need outside influence for?  Dad's got all the answers.

Nah, i was telling him as politely as i could, that his assumption about a bunch of posters following the same cult, is not correct.

On the karma, i think it might be, and probably is, that for most evolved souls, the cycle of death and rebirth is an easy game that they've done a 1000 times.

That process may be not that easy for those who avoid just considering the issue.

There are not a lot of people though who are accepting death as a part of life, most people don't like to talk about it.

Today is a day to rest and relax, though it's not quite Sunday yet.  My Thai wife explained to me that Thai brains are so much more expensive than farang brains.  Thai brains are little used whereas farang brains have too much mileage.  I'm giving my brain a well deserved rest after putting on so many useless miles.  And I've only gone in circles.

That's funny, and i had the same thought a few times.

It's interesting how culture and education can influence and shape the souls in this world, so much that sometimes it seems to be on another planet.

My wife explained that it's a joke amongst Thais.  And my brain is heavily discounted.
