Do you believe in God and why

Perhaps this God [or any Gods, for that matter] was misinterpreted as an ancient extraterrestrial - and it stuck.

We all come from stardust.

I have no doubt that earth was visited by aliens in our prehistory, and I can see how they could be regarded as gods by the primitive humans then. I suspect they may still be around but mostly invisible, waiting to ensure we never escape to spread hatred and destruction across the galaxy.

After all, humans today have made a god of money ( they spend a lot of time worshiping greed ), so it's possible to make a god out of anything, but one can have faith without being tied to human ideas of what makes the Creator God.

Indeed, everything comes from stardust.

Some people believe the earth is flat ,some believe we have only existed for 6 thousand years .but then some people believe that mass immigration of people from underdeveloped lands is good for the UK .

so why not believe in a sky fairy that was invented by the Jews ,taken on by Christians and then ,used by the Muslims.

i wonder if the dinasours believed in anything?

As Mahatma Gandhi is claimed to have said, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

This is a comment which makes sense to me. I've always been perplexed at the behavior of those who claim to be Christians, throughout the history of Christianity that I've read, because as I see it, the most fundamental precepts of Christianity are 'Love thine Enemy', 'Love thy Neighbor as Oneself', and 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you'.

The most rational answer to my perplexity I can think of, is that the instinct to survive, prosper, and dominate is significantly more powerful than any religious teaching, at the level of both the individual and the state.

Buddhism is even more extreme than Christianity in its precepts of 'refraining from killing'. They are even concerned about killing all forms of life, such as worms and insects in the soil, yet Buddhist countries such as Cambodia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, have a recent history of terrible killing of their neighbors and perceived enemies.

What the heck's going on?  ????

A question even more profound than "does God exist" is "why hasn't this thread been pinned yet?"

Or Elevated?

There have been many Miracle Virgin births before and after Jesus, but Jesus and the Christianity is one of the more successful political controlled created religion, same as Islam, but Jesus and Christianity is still the strongest religion today.

I'm quite sure there have been many who spike Jesus words at the same time, and it might have been an charismatic person named Jesus at the time being, and have existed.

The teaching of  Krishna and Budda is not so far away from Jesus teaching as described in the manifests. Call it a natural creation by time and many people creating their own teachings inspired by time being.

And here we are 2021 years later stuck in the same pattern!

What does pinned mean ?

If I told ya you'd think I was crazy.  I'll let someone else try and explain it.

You forgot to include unfettered, amoral science in the mix.  Religion killed untold millions.  I'd say science has killed many more.

Why the confused look when confronted with the truth, Skeptic.  Weapons of mass destruction were birthed by amoral science who realised they had the power to annihilate the entire planet if they so chose.  Well, they couldn't resist temptation (hey, maybe it was the miniature devil on their shoulders whispering in their ears).  They decided not to go nuclear (excuse the pun) and just drop a few big ones and create some really nifty toys for the militaries of the world.

Say it ain't true, Skeptic.

I know you understand my sarcastic style very well.  But you can't turn the tables on me.  Perhaps others, but not me.

Now whether I had ever mentioned it in any of my previous posts in this thread I can't be sure.  So I'll confirm right now that I am not in the least religious.

The atheists outgunned, outshined and outlasted the theists & mystics here without question.

If the above be true then why the hesitation (or avoidance?) in confirming or denying the truth that unfettered, amoral science has blood on it's hands?

For God's sake, guys.  Can't you figure out that I am being playfully sarcastic?  In this day and age someone doesn't understand what it means to pin a thread in a forum, or any social media platform?  So, given the nature of this thread I decided to be playful and turn the answer of his question into something mysterious.

Skeptic, you said the atheists outgunned and outshined everyone.  How is that possible when the above goes over your head.  Outlasted?  O.K.  That I can believe.

O.K., it's not a complicated question.  In fact it's binary . . . yes . . . or no.  I would think you could come up with an answer in, uhm, less than a day?

Well, I think I can, up to present, confirm that the above is not entirely true.  I've noticed a few atheists lurking about but aside from you, Skeptic, there hasn't been a peep and now you've become invisible yourself.  Or would it be more accurate to say, "non-existent"?

Thread has been dead a LONG time. You lurk and posit and talk to yourself rarely, but this thread is done. Stick a fork AND knife in it.????

Totally :offtopic:. Start a new thread and perhaps I'll bite. Certainly others would. Could be a good one. ????
