Local clinic muscle relaxant injections real or not?

Featured Replies

Last weekend I over exerted myself running and pulled a muscle in my back. This is akin to a lifting injury. In the past I have relied on exercises in a swimming pool. But that was a few years ago. I am now under pressure from my Thai extended family to visit the local clinic and get "an injection" .

My reluctance is creating friction at home.

Ia this a normal procedure? Anyone else had a similar injection for muscle relaxant. I have in the past had run ins with a squash racket and a snowmobile and have been prescribed Flexeril and the like. I was never offered an injection. My BIL has apparently had this treatment on more than one occasion.

I this a real treatment or an example of Thai/Asian expediency and love of injections or instant treatment.

i think they refer to a cortisol shot

and the sooner the more likely to have intended effect

Cortisol or NSAID shot is what they mean. Not a muscle relaxant.

And not a good idea.

Appropriate stretches/exercises and oral NSAIDs (if you have no contraindications) and application of ice will serve you much better.

Private clinics that give injections on demand are often dodgy and better avoided. If the above measures do not work see a proper spine specialist.

And do not take medical advice from your extended Thair family.

Cheers Sheryl.

What about "medical" (holistic) massage?

Im getting to the maintain the marital peace stage.

Went to the pool yesterday and felt much better afterwards but sleeping on a flat surface is @#%#!!

If done by a trained physical therapist (or someone who has the same level of practice and knowledge) massage may be good for you.

I would never get a massage from a person whose only qualifications are being Thai, female and not young anymore.

Massage sometimes does harm people.

+1 to the above

There is something wrong in your marriage if you cannot make your own medical decisions without it sparking a crisis.
