What on Earth were they thinking when they first thought this up? Goodness me 15 billion baht could go well towards purchasing another submarine!

Yes, but do they have anyone capable of 'driving' these contraptions?

  • Oh that big cuddly heartbreaker! Don't you just want to hug him. The election is over. No further need for vote buying by the junta.

It was just a publicity stunt anyway.

Thaksin gave them the scraps, this lot give them nothing, in fact they want to take from them....if they can

I can think of somewhere!!!

"Besides the cash could be better spent elsewhere."

Buying tanks perhaps to be used against an imaginary enemy? ????

I’m surprised there is still money left as I thought they used up the budget for a few years already to come. Oh that’s right, 2020 is the year they go after everyone for taxes.

They need all that and bit more to pay SRT's bill and interest

...like on, maybe... I don't know... a new submarine?

Yes indeed - Chinese submarines and tanks!

I thought my problems were big. I have always had problems sourcing money!

I think they could promote travel much better with a monthly magazine about what these little known districts offer. Nice pictures, maps, things to see and do. Make it available at all 7-11's. I wish the little towns had a newspaper. In Phimai, you never know what is going on until it is over.

The money is better spent on the military!????

To quote a former Australian PM, "It was a non-core promise."

Almost a laughing stock,  when one hand of governance opens and the other hands closes...

On wasteful (because largely useless) submarines, for example.

Daily News said "Big Too" - the PM's nickname - had broken Thai hearts.

I guess that's the the one and only fail-safe way to break a Thai heart, i.e. not giving them the money they haven't earned but feel being entitled to.

He would do better to direct funds to the Thai age pension, which is the biggest joke of all. I'd like to see how he manages on 800 baht a month.

Many saw the scheme as just a populist policy in an effort to form a government in the wake of the election on March 24th.

Like this was hard to figure out!

What? A well thought out plan like this has been scraped?

Better spend improving Government run Hospitals

"Not good use of budgets"    Better to keep money and buy another Chinese Submarine to patroll far Isaan.   Duhhh

He was reportedly furious that his plans were leaked out before they could be enacted.

Now let's hope that Big Too will follow Big Joke's footpath and end up in an inactive post!

Not much chance of that, he is there for life.

But word came down from on high - in the shape of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha that it was not a good use of budgets.

Since when has he known a good use of budgets.

Dunno about budgies, but he always appears keen on caressing frogs:

The way the Junta and there backers have acted in the last few years then that life could and would be foreshortened easily I suspect at a whim.

Right then off comes my yellow shirt!
