EC party-list calculation opens a can of worms

I think that one is inevitable, because the lower house has been rendered impotent (or perhaps one could say irrelevant)  by the EC managing to arrange that the party which actually lost the election becomes the party in government. This in turns means that the appointed Senate will be needed to ensure that the government can get it's legislation through.

There are two factions in the military, one (the current junta) controls the Senate, the other faction will only put up for that for so (not very) long.

And that hastens the bloody endgame.

And for those of you who wonder why the Thais put up with it, may I suggest that they realise how it is going to end up, (lots and lots of killing) don't want to play any part in it, and will stay clear.

I'm glad that my Stepson has completed his national service...

same thing is beginning to happen with the lower house of Congress in the States.

I'm sorry, I have to say this again, as quite a number of Thaivisa posters pooh-pooed my (and others') insistence a number of months back that the 'election' would be rigged. 'Oh no,' people said, 'th

A whirlpool of deceit that is so plain to see, truth has absolutely nothing to do with this election integrity is below absolute zero

It's the only solution unfortunately. The people are Thai so it ain't going to happen.

They are not a race of complainers. They are not a race of fighters. They are a race that has subservience and respect for their elders and, more importantly, betters ingrained in their psyche.

Also, any dissent shown is firmly and sometimes brutally stamped on.

good point, have ever tried to get them to open up another check out lane at a supper market here.  lol

“This is the correct formula. There are no other formulas. So, we only considered this method, unless the Constitutional Court had said otherwise.”

Yet two weeks ago they were deciding which formula to use - if there was only one there would be no "which one", would there.

No the Chinese, why do you think they bought tanks.

Was Erdogan an election consultant to the junta, or is it the other way around?

there is so much contradiction in their statements that's laughable, EC has no credibility whatsoever, 5cents of a brain would step down

Well we now know which method will be used to steal the election from those who got the majority of the vote. By dragging this out it is probably hoped interest will fade and there will be less chance of street violence when the announcement that the theft is completed. This won't end until Thais rally and demand that true democracy be put back into place.

A horrific conclusion to this election. The people voted and made their choice known. Prayuth, and the army get out!! Yet, due to the heinous re-writing of the constitution, the army gets to steal another one. Nobody wants them. They are despised. There is no respect for the army, their abilities, and their competence. None. Yet, the nation gets stuck with these hapless goons for five more years.

1, One thing is certain, many men will get super rich, and the nation will be a greatly diminished version of itself, five years from now.

2. No corruption will be tackled. The primary issues of illegal fishing, human trafficking, and sex slavery will not improve.

3. They will continue to issue proclamations, declarations and crackdowns based on nothing but false puritanism, containing no substance whatsoever.

4. They will not focus any effort on traffic or public safety, because they do not care.

5. They are only here to protect the elite, those in power, the police, the super wealthy, and those that are connected.

6. They will not be able to improve the economy as they only hire based on cronyism, and merit is never a consideration, so they are not able to attract real talent.

7. The tourism sector will continue to suffer, as they will focus only on China and India, leaving out higher quality Western tourism.

8. No doubt the ex-pats will suffer too, as this group is racist, xenophobic, and full of fear of the outside world.

They are small, insular men, and know little about anything. This army is moving the nation backwards at a pace that is astonishing.
