Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson's new comedy The Hustle hasn't gone down too well with the critics, with early reviews slating it as "empty" and "cheap".

The film – which is a gender-flipped adaptation of the Michael Caine and Steve Martin classic Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – sees Hathaway and Wilson play a pair of scam artists, one high class and the other classless, who attempt to con a number of rich men.

But unfortunately for the new pairing, the critics have this one down as more of a tragedy than a comedy.

A reverse roles remake was the first mistake as would be hard to replicate the success of the original as Michael Caine and Steve Martin actually had talent and the script was suited to them, the second was having these two clowns in the starring roles.

Actually the 1964 original was with David Niven and Marlon Brando.

About as interesting as the latest Oceans film, with the all woman cast. Did not see it. No interest. Just another desperate attempt on the part of Hollywood to cater to me too, and the superwoman type cast. No thanks.

Rebel Wilson is sooo overrated. Got little to no talent as far as I can see. But, hey there's tonnes of so called comics out there who are painfully not funny.

Wilson is always the wrong actress in any film. She makes me cringe every time I have the misfortune to see her in a film.

At least Hathaway is attractive and easy on the eye, but Wilson …….……………………….

One grandma and one fatty as stars.

Yeah.... I gotta see that one.

It could be as good of a gender switch remake as "Ghostbusters".

Thanks, NOT, for reminding me of that atrocious movie.

Here's a thought for the producers, how about making an original film?

There's no accounting for taste.  She looks fine until she opens her mouth then all I see is Janet Street-Porter.
