Prayut intervenes in spat between traffic policeman and “judge”

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha today had to intervene to help a traffic police officer in Thailand’s southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat who was abruptly transferred after a spat last week with a driver who  claimed to be a senior judge.

The driver, who was with his wife in the car, refused to show his driving license when stopped at a police check-point on a road in Thung Yai district by Corporal Aekapon Juisongkaew on the night of May 2.

Identifying himself as the director-general of the Region 8 Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases, the driver told the traffic policeman he was a friend of the latter’s supervisor.

Sack the judge, if indeed that is what he is, and sack Pol Col Chokdee Ratwattanapong also. The pair of them are the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the judicial system.

  • For a man who the DG of a court, why is he than showing his Misconduct and disrespect to the law he suppose to represent? this is another example of the wrong behaviour in this country, don't touch me

  • Thailand's judicial woes embodied in 1 pathetic incident. And the only person doing the right thing got removed from his position.   The judge should be removed immediately, clearly unfit to

the Prime Minister also ordered the Office of Judicial Affairs to investigate whether the driver is indeed the director-general of the Region 8 Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases as claimed....

Yes...we must confirm that this 'director-general' person is indeed one of the nobility and is who he claims to be. Impersonating a "HiSo" is a serious offense and will not be tolerated. Once his elite bona fides have been established all will be well.

The judge should be removed immediately, clearly unfit to sit in a post where he can legally condemn others as criminals.

The superintendent should face the same fate, removing a subordinate for not granting (illegal) favours to a crony.

Well done Prayuth on this, for once I completely agree

Only half the job done. He should use 44 to remove the judge and set a good precedent.

I am not a fan of Prayut, but for once a commend him.

Whether the driver was a judge or not, he is not above the law, as a judge he should set an example by abiding by the law, not abusing it.

You mean transferred to an inactive post till all the drama dies down in a few months, all the while on full civil service pay and entitlement.

Yep, that's sacked alright...

In what universe do you live?  In this one it's never going to happen.

While I agree with what you've said Colin. However, to me there is a certain irony that Prayut has intervened to 'appear' to uphold the law.

He himself has put himself above the law by IIRC absolving himself in advance of anything he may be charged with in the future.

"this is another example of the wrong behaviour in this country,"

Nothing to say about the "right" behaviour of the Priminister?

I'm surprised that he stopped.

I sometimes think that some people on here must have been living under a rock before coming to Thailand.

It seems to be unknown to them that people with a bit of power have been trying to "throw their weight around" in every corner of the world....since Adam was a baby.

They act like this could only happen in Thailand ?

So those in picture are paid actors?

  • Popular Post

I wish they would stop one of Prayuth's or Prawit's family members and ask for their id then have that on video. Or even stopping their motorcade cars. Or even one of the lower life of his crew and see what happens.

More equal than others.  And they wonder why the outside world laughs at the Thai "judiciary".  How sad.

Yeah but what is good for the goose with supreme power and amnesty with the golden article 44 button, is generally speaking elite terms as saying it is not good for the gander.

Yep, pretty bad.  Almost as bad and snooty as the Pai Gow Pit crew at the Barona casino near San Diego!  Real egotists.

What's wrong in a country where a self-appointed PM has to take the lead in a case like this?

Just imagine coming up against this judge in a court, he seems an arseh--e and a half.

if he dosent get along with Thai cops, what chance would a farang have in his court.

No matter what country you live in, these gentlemen all have the same outrageous behavior!

does that mean the case would end with a "non hung jury"?

Is this really much of a 'surprise' to anyone?
