I have been offered a new job, but they want me to absorb all of the costs of going to Laos to get a new Non B. What do guys think?

It is not unreasonable for the school to expect you to get the correct visa to work and to obtain a work permit.   Most schools I know do not pay for those costs.   Once you have the correct visa, any extensions, work permit and Teacher's License Waiver (if needed), should be at the schools expense.

The traveling is around 2-3K, visa for Laos 1.5 K, Non-B at Thai consulate 1.9 K, hotel, resort 1 K, Food, beer, fags/whiskey at a duty-free shop, and a maid not more than 5 K.

Lao beer is better than Thai beer, just do it and don't let the Tuk Tuk freaks rip you off! They love it to ask for horrendous amounts.

Most schools do not pay for the first visa but pay for the extension you'll have to apply for within 90 days, as you won't get a full year in Laos.

Please be aware that they want to see a police clearance!

Work permit for one year is 3,100 baht. Your choice.

25% - 35% of that.

If you like to watch others having a great and cold Lao beer and decent food, yes.

My trip.....Travel 1200, Laos visa 1085, Good hotel 800, great food on the floating restaurant 1k, 8 large Lao beers 400 baht. Visa 2k. Next day...good breakfast 150. That is for 2 by the way. I went with my wife.

This is in Savannakhet. You don't need a police clearance there.
