Driving Thailand To Malaysia/singapore

Featured Replies

Hi, I read a topic last week about taking a car out of Thailand which mentioned a travel document that can be obtained from some office near Morchid.

Trouble is I cant find the topic after searching.

I would like to drive outside of Thailand, taking my car down into Malaysia, possibly as far as Singapore.

Can anyone tell me if I am likely to have any problems at the border and what documents I may need to show regards ownership insurance etc.

Anyone done the trip themselves?

I am from UK and my car is in my own name.

Thanks for reading, Andy.

Hi Apetley, Im planning to ride down to KL for the formula 1 this April. As far as Im led to believe at the Malaysian border you purchase insurance to cover your lenght of stay in Malaysia show your license and car papers and thats it. I'll let you know how it goes when I get back, Chers Dunc

You need a English letter from the department of land transport Mor Chit which romanises your number plate.

Second floor of the car registration building. Ask at the information desk on that floor just at the top of the stairs there. They'll give you an application form.

Easy peasy to get.
