retirement extension health insurance

Tried to follow this on the forum but confused.

Ubonjoe (hopefully correctly) says the the new requirements only apply in you are applying in your home country. Is this true. Surely they want to get us old farang who are already here? Where is that officially reported?

At the moment the only announcements regarding the possible insurance are for Non-Immigrant 'O-A' visas obtained outside of Thailand.

If it happens it follows the 'O-X' visa that was more recently launched and has compulsory insurance.

There is currently no talk of extensions of stay requiring medical insurance.

Except by Thai visa  posters who disagree with your interpretation and suggest one reads the announcements and make a decision themselves or call in insurance agent who may actually know something about the requirements.

When we start hearing of people making Extension renewals at Immigration being asked to show evidence of Insurance, or a police order comes out instructing them to do checks for insurance, I think we should assume it is not yet a requirement.

A post attempting to derail the topic has been removed.

Everything officially posted indicates that only a application for a OA long stay visa at a embassy or consulate.

This topic will soon be closed if the discussion gets derailed since there are several topics about it in the Thailand news forum where it is being discussed.

Edit: And now 2 more removed along with replies to them.

I will simply wait until the order is issued, i am sure @ubonjoe will give us a detailed analysis of what we need to do when that happens.  Till then business as usual.

Humdrumdays, these articles have been discussed already on several other topics.

Opinions differ on the interpretation of it without any concrete result as per now.

So it is up to you to decide, and eventually act accordingly, on what you want to believe.

Simply wait until the order is published and issued to immigration, at that time i am sure @ubonjoe will release a detailed analysis of what we need to do.  Until then relax and have a leo.

Now :mfr_closed1: as per my warning since nobody paid attention to it.

Move the discussion to one of these topics or others about it.
