Getting a Prosthetic Leg Made

Featured Replies

Greetings All

From time to time, I work in Papua New Guinea and have made several friends there. One of my close friends suffers from Diabetes and has lost a leg from that disease. He is having problems with the prosthetic leg he nows uses and has asked me whether such artificial limbs are manufactured in Thailand . Thus I am making this enquiry for him.

Does anyone on this board know how I might go about sourcing a manfacturer of artificial limbs in the Kingdom?

Many thanks in advance !!

HI Sheryl

The problem is that he lives in Papua New Guinea and there just arent any technicians  nearby.

The measurements shouldnt be a problem, he can supply what ever is needed. Although fitting the artificial limb and making adjustments will be a problem - I  agree

Do you think there may be any way around this problem??

Many thanks for your reply

If measurement no problem   e bay prosthetic limb,...some with free shipping  cheap too

It is not just measurements they have to cast a mold of the stump.

There is no getting around the need for the technician to actually see the patient.

Where in PNG is he? The national orthotics & prosthetics services operates out of Pirt Moresby Hospital and certainly has technicians.

Even with the best technician there is some trial and error in getting best fit. And any loss of weight or muscle tone may necessitate new fitting.
