Bhumjaithai party will not join the Palang Pracharat party in forming a government if the Democrats decide to part with the pro-Prayut party, said Bhumjaithai party leader Anuthin Charnvirakul.

He reiterated that his party would only join a coalition government which enjoys a majority in the 500-member House of Representatives.

He also rejected the Palang Pracharat party’s suggestion that its potential coalition partners vote for Prayuth as prime minister before discussing the sharing of cabinet portfolios.

I'm not very good at all this politics game playing but....

What would happen if the Bhumjaithai formed their own coalition with the Dems ?? Wouldn't that scupper the whole parliament ??

It would then be a 3 way deadlock ????

I said weeks ago, the pot smokers, the dead Demo's and the freedom fighters should join ranks, let the other two loser's fight it out and then keep the bastards honest and inline - it's the best outcome from the current disaster facing Thailand at the moment, however - it means a few people will have to postpone their turn at the trough for awhile.

If there is a 3 way deadlock and no one able to form coalition government then the obvious answer is to hold another election just like Israel post election impasse. However I doubt the junta has what it takes to hold another election knowing that they will be trounced as political parties smartened up.

so, if the anti junta "groups" and their followers believe / are smart enough they should cease all discussions and take a leaf from Mahatma Gandhi's book - a non violent passive approach by withdrawing any support   in relation to forming a government, start a campaign of civil disobedience, form an "unofficial government" block and let the Junta carry on as they are now at the displeasure of the majority of Thai people, it can be no worse than the current situation.

The Dems, if they can ever be called that again after siding with the army a second time, risk universal back lash for not standing up imbecilic authoritarianism.   Abhisit lashed out at cha cha a few time, too few, but a few times.   As dumb as he is, he and his party must realize they have a chance at 1932 all over again if they think of the people of Thailand.  A military "strong man" who cannot take the heat of criticism, and is not use to arguing should never run a country.

It's getting very tedious.

Maybe the best scenario for the long run is a pro-junta government which has to deal with the economic decline.

Hope the hardship will wake up some people and real change can be implemented after that, taking the military out of the political mix for good.

I think you might be right, the next goverment will have a lot of economic problems and will have to take measures. That wont make them popular. So maybe a pro junta government is good. For sure that next election they will crumble.

It will be interesting (or laughable) to see how the Dems try to present themselves to voters the next time there is a significant election.

Sadly for them there would be NO slot at the trough.
