Sending 20 kg package to the UK

I have a lot of books. I am planning to send a number to the UK. I weighed them at 16.3 kg. With packaging, this should still be under 20 kg.

 

According to the Thailand Post website surface mail is from 4275 Baht whilst air mail is 8120 Baht. There are a number of options and it not clear what the difference is. These prices seem to be what I expected. I am not in a hurry with this so surface mail should be fine

 

I am more concerned about the package arriving without damage.

 

Would a logistics company like Kerry be more reliable?

 

Has anybody experience with this?

I discovered SAL. This is economy air mail. This is about 25-30% more than surface mail but only about 65% of the air mail price. I got there in 10 days. So for a huge saving, it takes an extra day or two.

Reports from the UK tell me that the box was in a dishevelled state on arrival but the contents seem to be okay. Wrap those parcels well. I suspect the boxes are not treated with care.
