Can anyone tell me what the bank letter needed for visa extension is called in Thai? My bank are useless and I have been told that a regular statement won't be accepted by local immigration. I tried to explain in my dodgy Thai, but they didn't understand. Also, do you need to show the bank book with some activity the same day or is this just certain offices that ask for it?

It is best if you can update it on the same day but some immigration officer can accept the bank book updated the day before you apply.

It also depends on whether it is savings or fixed deposit, if it is fixed deposit , usually they won't require you to update on same day.

Don't know what the letter is called in Thai because my Bangkok Bank branch had no problem understanding the English word 'bank letter certifying account balance for immigration'.

The account is a fixed deposit and is at the maximum level. If they want me to show activity, I would have to withdraw some money and just put it back which makes no sense really. I guess I'll just have to try again. What fun!

Don't withdraw money. Where is your imm office.

In Ubon Ratchathani

Your answer will be along shortly. I am also interested in expert response as I  just opened a fixed term deposit as have decided to just leave the funds in bank to avoid problems. Ubonjoe uses that imm office so he will know for sure.

Not sure what they want here since I do my mine using income. I am sure the day before would accepted for the letter from the bank.

You should not need a bank statement. But most banks can do a 6 month statement while you wait.

Never heard of them wanting to see activity in the account. Just an update of your bank book would be accepted if the bank can do it.

OK, thanks. I will go tomorrow and see what happens. I went to immigration this morning to try and ask exactly what was required, but I was basically told to take a number and wait in the massive queue in order to ask a simple question that could be answered in under a minute. I decided not to bother.

Early morning is not a good time to go. Go after lunch time and it is less busy.

I at about 11, hand over my paperwork, go to lunch and return to get it finished.

Joe, are you still planning to continue with the income method? If so, what method are you using to import your income? Thanx.

I got the bank letter this morning, but they have done it in English. Will immigration accept this? I'm not sure. Don't want to waste my time going there this afternoon if they will tell me to change it.

Two people have told me that since June 1, the office in Mukdahan does not require a letter. They just want you to deposit or withdraw a small amount and have the book updated on the day you apply for the extension. I can't find any confirmation of this.

When I did my last 90 day, I inquired about any changes and the lady with 4 stars on her epaulette still wanted the letter...but that was in April.

By the way, my letters in the past have always been in English.

Direct deposits of my social security payments that are shown as international transfers. My current bank book will show over two years of them when I do the application. Been having them come in that way for over 7 years.
