As if this Wanna Be has a snowballs chance in hell of ever becoming the Prime Minister. He is nothing but another flavor of the month and soon will fo..ok off back to his family's business before he is convicted of offenses during his short lived political career.

Hope Abhisit joins FFP now he's left Dems (he was weak but at least he did the right thing today).

It all sounds a bit like who's buying who and will end up a sack race as usual ????

Democrat Party yesterday decided at the last minute to join the Phalang Pracharat-led coalition

What a surprise!

Thanathorn won the adoration of the people...unlike some others...

If your last sentence was correct he'd have polled more votes than PTP and PP - but he didn't.

Wonder what deal Thanathorn did with Thaksin to wangle this?

Maybe, just maybe some of these MP's will realize that the short-term monetary gain from the votes they are about to sell....really aren't worth handing over their country to a Dictator.

I wish I could share your optimism but any MP selling his or her vote at this stage knows exactly what the stakes are, know full well the consequences and have decided to sell out their country for 30 pieces of silver. Very sad but that's how ingrained corruption has become.

I'm afraid only a full blown "purge" can change this country in a fundamental way.

Can these Northeastern MPs not understand that for quite a while now that the party’s de facto leader Khunying Sudarat has said that she will NOT stand as a PM candidate. NO means NO.

quote from the OP "The decision to field Thanathorn against Prayut today |encountered some opposition within Pheu Thai.

Northeastern MPs of the party believe that Pheu Thai should support its own candidate, especially the party’s de facto leader Khunying Sudarat.

They argued that Sudarat was the reason why Pheu Thai had won the most number of MPs in the March election. She had been highlighted as the party’s face in the election campaign and the MPs did not know how to explain it to the voters if Sudarat did not represent the party in the PM contest, they argued."

You are correct if you are just taking numbers but the FFP were not around ant the last election.

Why would Thanathorn need to do a deal with Thaksin?

Do you have any proof that they are working together, outside of your biased thoughts?

I sense that a period of 'attitude adjustment' is heading the way of a certain young man! I see there is yet another pathetic attempt to get him in court over alleged comments about Prem.

It's all getting very silly but I am in favor of it as it is showing the dinosuars to be what they are to the general public. Social media will sink them in the end. Not in the immediate future but it may take 5-10 years,

Bare knuckles in the octagon - whomever wins becomes PM.

The anti-junta bloc made its final decision and confirmed yesterday that Thanathorn was |eligible to be their prime minister candidate –

sure they do want him to run and make a fool of himself and make fun of him, they already know the winner... that's why they decided to make him eligible, what a circus

JUNTA CHIEF General Prayut Chan-o-cha and anti-junta politician Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit will lock horns for the top government post today.

They should do it at dawn, with pistols, at thirty paces. With any sort of luck neither of them would miss.

Is there a result yet - they had just 500 votes to count?

How hard is it?

Come on Thanathorn!
