As a citizen of the United States, I hesitate to make ANY statement denigrating the leader of another country. As long as the USA supports Donald Trump as its President, Americans have little reason to look down their noses at ANYONE. ????

And yet you choose to live here...... And pay for the privilege.

I will say again for the umpteenth time, I chose to live here because 13 years ago, it was a country worth living in, this was before the Thai government brought out these unnecessary hoops for us retirees to jump through. I bought property and married a good woman, so I am reluctant to leave.

I would not have chosen to live here under the conditions we have to endure today.

May I ask you. How long have you lived in Thailand?

where did you get that one, you must be well informed  FYI maybe in "your" Isaan village people are very happy (did you ever consider if they received monetary help from the junta, that couold be a good reason to be happy but I do know plenty of Thais here in the South that are absolutely not happy with the outcome, 1,000's of them and some were not allowed to vote

Please don't cherry pick and only part quote, it is completely out of context. Glad you know thousands of Thais personally. You must have a very charismatic personality. It does show up in your posts though.

I reckon I'd know maybe 7 or 8 I can call friends.  In a nodding relationship with maybe 20 more or so. After that they are just people in the street, no different to a farang I may see.

Nightie shredding,  footsie stamping aged expats?

You blokes should be jumping with joy. After all most of you are spouting that Thailand will be ruined because of this.  That should cause the baht to drop and then you can all put 800,000 in the bank and return to your bar stools and find something else to whinge about.

To be honest the only people I hear complaining about the newly elected PM are the members of TVF.  The wife is very happy with the outcome as are the rest of the people in our Isaan village.

Really, the complaining on here is about as effective as two fleas arguing over a dog. But if it gets it off your chest please carry on. Some of the rants make for great comedic entertainment.

You may need to pay a visit to the otolaryngologist and get those ears checked out mate.

Your post is at odds with too many facts so there's a fair chance you're not hearing too well.

Why did the people in your Isaan village all vote Pheu Thai?

Do you think Abhisit quit parliament because he is happy Prayuth is PM?

Why have all the major Thai and foreign newspapers called Prayuth's "election" a sham and a farce?

Why are all the trending hashtags on Thai twitter anti-Prayuth?

Why did Prayuth need to cheat so much to get his way if everyone adores him?

I would suggest that you have personal views that lean strongly towards both fascism and selfishness and are all too happy to distort reality and ignore facts simply to maintain the delusion that your views are true and those with differing views are near bankrupt drunkards who while away their hours and their limited funds on alcohol, whores and whingeing.

Pretty good chance you're in the wrong on all counts.

(BTW - that includes your wife's happiness)

Yes you may ask.

My point is you knock Thailand, the people and their culture (isn't there a forum rule about this) at seemingly every opportunity - not just you but the majority of posters.

I cannot fathom why you are still here.

Please list ( and be realistic)  of the hoops you are jumping through that you weren't 13 years ago.

Why don't you sell up and take the Mrs with you? Can't be that bad can it?

Gee.... That was a load of crap!

How on earth would I know or care who is hash tagging who?

I guess comprehension of my post is beyond you.  Try reading it again..... Slowly. Particularly the bit about fleas arguing about the dog. Posting here in an outrageous manner will achieve nothing. Surely even you can understand that? The Thai people will choose their own destiny by action or inaction.

Expats getting all bitter and twisted about things they have no input into are wasting their time.  However if you feel good venting and being abusive..... Please continue.  I don't report baiting or flaming posts.

Show me the facts I have ignored or the reality I have distorted? I mentioned politics - the PM once and related my wife's view.

I made no mention of Abihisit or any one else - you did.

Neither did I mention whores.

By the way my hearing and comprehension are just fine.  You have absolutely no idea which way I lean politically, but I will let you into a little secret - I think for myself and don't follow the herd without careful consideration.  I am an individual unlike some people who let the hysteria cloud their thinking.

800,000 baht in the bank for 6 months instead of 3 months  and 400,000 permanently for starters, mandatory health insurance for seconds, and there's a few more where they came from - they are just the recent ones!

Another member of the "if you don't like it go home" brigade!

No, he resigned as leader right after the election. He resigned as an MP when the party, lead by their new leader, decided to support Prayut.

I wonder why he decided to resign as leader, it would have been a different outcome.

So really you leave 400k in the bank. Why is health insurance an issue?  Are you on an OA visa?

So not much has changed in reality in 13 years,  just a requirement to keep a little cash in the bank.

This has been done to death in multiple other threads.

It's really being another reason/ excuse to knock Thailand when in reality the changes are minimal.

I am on my 14th retirement visa, absolutely nothing has changed for me apart from quite a few different "governments"! Which don't effect me - thankfully!

Typical response from one who is strongly inclined to a fascist / authoritarian bent. Subtly threatening to appeal to authorities (reporting posts) to act on your behalf to right the wrongs you imagined have been inflicted upon your good self.

This is the exact reason why you're so fond of Prayuth.

If, in your esteemed opinion, people here are wasting their time posting, the question has to be asked - What the hell are you doing posting here?

Baffling.

I see you've had two bites at the cherry, I shall respond more to your second limp attempt at a response to my earlier post.

Pleasure to reply and help straighten you up a bit and set you on the right path.

To quote "to be honest the only people I hear complaining about the newly elected PM are the members of TVF"

The above statement causes me to question the quality of your auditory senses as there has been a tsunami of complaints about the "election" of Prayuth as PM. To believe that the only complaints are from TVF members must mean you have somehow managed to avoid all newspapers, Facebook, twitter, all international TV, most Thai TV and all interaction with Thais (as just 8 million out of 70 million actually voted for Prayuth so it stands to reason that about 4 out of every 5 interactions with Thais would be with those opposed to Prayuth - and being from Issan it's probably closer to 5 out of 5 interactions).

It is an egregious distortion to claim that because your wife is happy with Prayuth, coupled with the obvious lie that the people of Issan are happy with Prayuth confirms your earlier false statement that only TVF members are complaining about Prayuth.

The fact that you didn't mention Abhisit, who is clearly unhappy that Prayuth has retained his status as PM is further evidence of either your ignorance or wilful distortion of facts to suit your prejudiced and incorrect opinions.

I have a very clear idea of which way you lean politically just as I am fully aware that you do not think independently, but rather are more likely to be in the throes of a strong Dunning-Kruger Effect affliction.

Here's a handy test for you to confirm the diagnosis.

You asked :-  "Please list ( and be realistic)  of the hoops you are jumping through that you weren't 13 years ago."

I've just given you a couple of recent examples as an answer, but instead of acknowledging that, you come up with more questions, and an offhand comment that "not much has changed in reality in 13 years"

And yes, this has been done to death in multiple other threads so why are you still asking questions?

P.S. The changes are only minimal when they don't affect you - I would guess that you don't have to pay more than 2500 British pounds a year for health insurance.

I would be all for the pm but the way he's gone about getting into power and holding on to it is wrong.he seems to be doing the right thing running the country where crime, drugs and corruption is some of the main problems of Thailand.i would bet that many of the past parties and leaders have got into power along the same root as he has taken and its the way of Thai politics.hes here to stay and and maybe he might take a page out of China's book and rewrite the constitution so he can be mr big until he dies.i live in the jungle of issan and when you mention him the thais look like they want to spit on the floor.hes not a popular guy around my way.

Brutal force - hyperbolic to say the least. Were you here then?

Why do you think the Pheu Thai vote was less than half of the vote that elected PTP as the largest minority in the previous election?

Distort facts - you mean like pretending Thaksin and the Shin clan aren't criminals?
