causing the pillars holding up the overhead rails to subside, they have thought of that.

Yes, they will be an extra foot high.

Why not yet including the ticket price?

10 baht, unless you talk to the driver.

I'm thinking, considering we're talking about Pattaya, they'll probably end up with something about like this....  :burp:

Pattaya would be thoroughly improved if it became more like Bangkok.

Look West young man!

Rooster

Well it already has the flooding and sleaze. What else do they need to copy to improve it?

More shopping malls with hotels atop and link them all up with elevated walkways/ monorails  then you can be "whisked" in icy aircon bliss from emporium to emporium without ever setting foot on the

(broken filthy,flooded ) ground. ????

Well, it did.... up until approx 60+ years ago!

That was the L.A. Red Car line approaching its death throws in the late 50s / early 60s.

Where does the money come from?

I don't know any one who pays taxes in pattaya.

Chinese investors again, no doubt.

Walking street will be renamed monorail street.

Can't fix the pavements or stop pumping crap into the sea but are going for this monstrosity, guess there is money to be made!

They dug a hole on Klang to put the power cables underground.

Two people have driven down the hole and died in the last 7 days.

Night time.

It's a sad place for sure.

I agree that for a tourist resort it looks bloody awful.

How about spending some of that money on a proper separation & waste water plant first

Well quite a visionary project. Because with all the flooding left unmaintained on surface, soon people will need to move high above ground level to commute...

At least if the sky train breaks down they can turn off the power and let you out to walk back along the track, but when this breaks down ???

Will it have inflatable emergency escape slides like aircraft?

It might help if action were taken to attract tourists that don't travel by coach and actually go into shops, bars, restaurants etc etc because while tourist numbers as reported are good it is plain to anyone that isn't blind that the economy of Pattaya is collapsing. Just look at the number of businesses that have closed and are now shuttered. Mass numbers of Chinese just drive off the money spending variety of tourist that really help local people.

You don't think every business in Pattaya pays taxes?  They collect tax on my bank accounts every year at a Pattaya bank.  Vat tax is paid by everyone I think?  So actually unless you are not in Thailand or Pattaya - you are completely wrong.

Oh, don't!

Inflatable - in Pattaya?

New news report articles about "ferang died after falling from monorail"?

One question... WHY?

To handle the millions of Chinese tourists that will come to gamble.  Chinese people are taking all of their money out of China and buying up everything in Pattaya so it is just a matter of time before the Casinos are built.   China is very unstable now with the US trade war and the Hong Kong thing.  Pattaya is a good alternative.

Interesting, but I wonder how many bars, restaurants, other retail outlets and condo apartments will be blocked from sunlight by a monstrous elevated monorail system outside their front doors and windows?

Posted

Good idea if you have any tourists to move?  Years ago Sydney Australia had a monorail that went around the city; it lasted maybe 8 years and was pulled down.

If they did go ahead with this scheme, can you imagine how long it would take and how much worse the traffic would be - sounds like an absolute nightmare in the making

More targets for the world class ladyboy pick pockets, well done!

I've lived in the Pattaya area for 12 years and it must be many months since I last saw a ladyboy. I've never had my pockets picked by one. Mind you, if you're the type who likes to get up close to them it may happen. However, if you live in a wooden hut in a jungle clearing in Nakhon Nowhere, it probably won't.

I thought it was destined to be rather far out to the East beyond the lake.

It is--that's why they need something to get all the passengers into Pattaya.
