Very loose doorknob. Installing a new one?

The front door to an apartment has gradually gotten very loose. To the point where I feel it might just come off in my hand one day soon.

I guess there isn't a trick to tightening it back up, and one needs to buy a new one?

I think I have seen similar ones in Big C or Homepro for about 400 baht.

Are they easy to install?

Or is it better to get someone who has some clue what they're doing?

TIA.

Take a risk, be wild, throw caution to the wind and take leap of faith in your abilities... give it a try and of course report back on how you got on...  Y'never know, there maybe someone else out the struggling with the same questions...  ????

And then... when you feel brave enough progress on to this thriller....

And you use the same tools either way.

Try to tighten it first and you could save the cost of a new lockset ????

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Piece of cake.

The hardest part is removing the old doorknob (even though it's loose).

When you buy the new doorknob there will be a removal tool with it (looks a bit like a flat key.

If in any doubt there are plenty of Youtube videos that show the procedure to change the knob.

See the little hole. Poke a small nail or ???? into the hole an pull firmly on the door knob. It will come off. If the screw heads are not underneath pull off the other one and tighten up the screws. Push knobs back on.

See that small hole in the knob neck.....Put a very small screwdriver in it and push the spring loaded pin down, at the same time pull on the knob..The knob will come off. Then unscrew the backing plate that sits on the door. You will now see the screws that hold the two sides together. Tighten the screws up and reassemble...

^ but this does remind me that my wife wants to change one door, so I'll drop by the hardware store on the way home.

Perfect. Thanks very much.

As an aside, I guess we know why Dick is short for Richard. ????

Or the apartment handy-man will fix it in a jiffy for a nominal fee or even free.

Or, if he is like mine, he will break the old lock, damage the door frame, dirty the wall, overcharge me for a new lock and then expect a big tip on top of the building fee.

So I just bought my own screwdriver set at HomePro for 250B and do such jobs myself.

Looks to me like it might be just the flange that came loose.  (?)  For that, just hand tighten until the flange is snug to the door.
