One-armed man drowns in Surat Thani river

By The Nation

A man with an amputated right arm jumped into the Tapi River in Surat Thani Muang district and drowned on Friday night.

Police and scuba divers from the Kusol Sattha Surat Thani Foundation rushed to the main pier in Tambon Talad after being alerted that a man had jumped into the river.

The divers searched the river bed for about an hour before they found the body of Adol Sukkid, 56, a resident of Surat Thani’s Kanchanadit district. His right arm had been amputated above the elbow.

Phaisal Saenghiran, a fruit vendor nearby, said he saw the man drinking alone at the pier before nightfall and a moment later he heard the sound of a bottle being smashed. He turned to see the man standing up and plunging into the river.

Poor guy could probably only swim around in circles. Sounds like he wanted to go though. RIP.

A beer before you go.. could be worse, however drowning isn't one of my favourites!

The woman saw him but thought he was armless. Groan. RIP

You can see how an amputee here may want to chuck himself in the river reading these comments????RIP

The compassion and empathy shown here is astounding.

Black humour has a place,,,,,,, but

Come on, cut out the wise cracks, a poor man is dead, and all some members can do is make fun of it.
