Hello,

a few weeks ago i get my first non immigrant o visa, based on retirement. Last week i made my first trip outside thailand and applied for a rentry permit at the airport.

Yesterday i came back to thailand, arrived at suvarnabhumi airport in the afternoon. All counters very busy, waiting time more then one hour. Finally it was my turn. IO (male) goes back and forward in my passport, looked at his computer many times, and talked a lot with himself. After 5 minutes i was sure something is wrong, also i was a bit disappointed as i stayed here the last years with tourist visas and never had a problem when i entered thailand. Now i have finally the right visa and problems coming up.

Anyway the IO called another IO (female) She asked me what i am doing here? I said holiday. She asked me how long. I said not sure yet, and told her that i have a 90 day non immigrant o visa and whether is something wrong with it. She not gave me an answer, she just keep on continue asking ..whether i have famiy in thailand, i said no, she asked i have wife, i said no, only gf, she asked gf is thai, i said yes. Then she talked with the male IO a few minutes. he stamped my passport and i passed the counter. All together It took 15 minutes. Not a big deal and not really a problem. I just wonder if this topic will now come up all the time when i will enter thailand again, even with a non immigrant o visa.  Anyone similar experience?

PS. Before these questions came up again. I was polite, nicely dressed, shaved, and not smelly...

I suspect they wanted to know why you had that non immigrant O visa (you do not mention telling them) as it is normally only issued to visit family/wife or other special reasons (retirement is normally the non immigrant O-A visa these days).  If you intend to extend for retirement during the final 30 days you should have mentioned that - expect that would have helped clear issues.  All the tourist visas likely caused alarm bells.
