Prayut given a test of what to come

Many say movie trailers are usually more exciting than the real films. For Prayut Chan-o-cha, however, the glimpse of what to come that he has experienced first-hand can be tantamount to a stroll in the park when the “real thing” does materialize.

He has seen, on a front-row seat, a trailer of a political thriller. Whether he was shaken by it is hard to say, but the situation was serious enough to warrant his public apology. The Government House’s unprecedented statement said he was sorry for conflicts within the Palang Pracharat Party over the Cabinet formation. Prayut knew the Thai public, who have been divided over his continued stay in power, must have been disappointed.

The situation threatened to go out of hand, with some Palang Pracharat MPs ready to kick Sontirat Sontijirawong out as party secretary-general. Whether Prayut’s public apology helped calm things down was debatable, but what followed it was an uneasy truce between rival Palang Pracharat factions. The anti-Sontirat campaign abated and trouble-plagued allocation of Cabinet seats drew to a close.

Out with the toy cars and sand buckets. Exactly as in the day care center. It´s playtime!

My thoughts entirely. All of Prayuths friends want the military to stay in power, because all of his friends are military personnel. His first encounter with people who dont share his vision has been the PPRP debacle. He doesn't go shopping, drive his own car or wash his own clothes. What would he know about ordinary people.

They still bow to the master race!

Silly, childish, intelligence-insulting article.

And there is a repeated mistake; 'what IS to come,'

I doubt that.

Palang Pracharat's fall back solution to conceding the department minister posts is to get either Deputy Minister or Permanent Secretary positions in the contested Ministeries which are also part of the PM's Cabinet (now about 32 members!). If Prayut's chosen Department Ministers falter in their duties or conflict with their respective Palang Pracharat Deputies and/or Permanent Secretaries, Palang Pracharat can bring "a world of pain" onto Prayut.

Prayut may only be delaying a day of reckoning with the Palang Pracharat.

I give it until no later than October 2020.

As the headline in the other major English newspaper put it aptly "Stability Questioned"; a cabinet line-up that leaves much to be desired. Expect few cabinet re-shuffles within this year.

After five years of absolutely nonsensical policy, total incompetence, daily declarations, mindless crackdowns (that are never followed up), protection of the powerful, those in power, those that are super wealthy and the police, the near destruction of the (Western) tourism industry, and the massive abuse of ex-pats with the constant racist diatribes, he deserves whatever abuse, criticism and hardships come his way. He earned the challenges. He is universally despised.

Off .?

Only a matter of time before it goes off again even if he's managed to smooth this one over ..

Maybe they should have a wrestling match like used to be on the telly back in the day .. I reckon Chair P' could take the place of Mick McManus with his buddy toad as Big ( but short ) Daddy if it has to be a tag contest ..
