Great thai rail mysteries

Featured Replies

Some things that have got me pondering:

1. Why are there two separate rail lines that go to Bua Yai, a

seemingly small nondescript town in the north east of Thailand that almost noone outside of Thailand has probably ever heard of?

2. Why are there no rail lines that go to any major border population centres in the north east (between Nong Khai and Ubon) such as Nakhon Phanom or Mukdahan?

3. Why is there a railway line that branches off near Surat Thani and goes through Khiriratnikhom (and then ends mysteriously at a road) that has only one passenger train service a day between Surat Thani and Khiriratnikhom?

4. Why don't they serve cappuccinos on trains in Thailand?
