I'm a soon to be 48 Englishman with many many tourist visas over 15 years albeit with a sprinkling of non o's and non b's.

I look after my two Thai born sons aged 8 and 6 full time. Their mother is neither unwilling to look after them or supply me with documents to get a visa unless I give her 20k.

Any options or easy places for another tourist visa?

I'm in the process of contacting a lawyer to at least get me down as the legit father..is there a visa available for this?

I've got about 28 days and I'm not rich.

Please help a desperate loving dad.

Many thanks.

Is that 20k baht? If so, I'd go with that for now if you're sure she'll really give you what you need. She'll obviously be back for more later but if that's all it takes for you to secure your immediate status, take it and buy the time to sort things out properly.

Do you have their birth certificates? With that and copy of their house book registry you could get a single entry non-o visa and 60 day extensions. Or a multiple entry non-o visa in Penang if you can show 400k baht in the bank or proof of income.

With proof the children's mother has not been supporting taking care of  them in any way you could go to a Amphoe be granted custody.

You could also get your parenthood legitimized for the 8 year old since they are over 6 years old. Some Amphoes would also do it for your 6 year old child.

If you legitimize your parent hood and get custody of your children you could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai at immigration. You would need 400k baht in a Thai bank or proof of 40k baht income

I don't have anything..but maybe there's a chance I can get another cert from the Ampur and get his name put on my friends house book.

But don't I need her Id card and her house book?

Is a tourist visa at savannahaket out of the question if I show 20k cash?

Once you have legalised your parenthood you can apply to stay as a parent as long as you have 40K pm income or 400K in the bank. Until then the maximum extension of stay is 60 days.

If I were you — and had at least one of the children's birth certificates — I would apply for a 60 day extension towards the end of your remaining 28 day stay, and focus on legalising parenthood. Then go to Vientiane or Savannahket to get a Single Entry Non-immigrant ‘O’ visa. That will give you another 90 days on entry, which can also be extended by 60 days. That all gives you plenty of time to sort out your parenthood after which you can apply for the 1 year extension.

I've extended a 30 day visa on arrival already so they won't give me 60 days.

If Ive got the original birth certificate can I get him put on my friends house book?

Can anyone tell me..do I need her house book too to get the 3 month non o in Laos?

I've got loads of her Id copies..

Not without being the legal father of your child and possibley custody as well.

Since you are shown on their father on their birth certificates you can request a print out of their house book registry at a Amphoe that will be accepted by a embassy, consulate or immigration.

Not the mothers.

Some offices will do a 60 day extension after the 30 day extension of a visa exempt entry.

That was an extension for tourism. There is technically no reason why a further 60 days to visit your children can't be granted.

You are going to have difficulty doing anything unless you have parental power. That should be your priority IMO.

You can try, but they might not play ball. My wife tried getting copies a few years ago and they refused without a police report to confirm the originals were lost.

I have a police report from last December when I lost the kids birth photocopies last year. Besides the bib are so slack here surely all I have to do is report them missing again..

I also teach the the son of the local chief of police in my area. Maybe they can help.

You need to be fanatically careful about many official documents in Thailand. In some cases, it is virtually impossible to get replacements if the originals are lost. For this reason, some choose to just have copies at home, and deposit the most important documents at the bank, retrieving them only when there is a need to show the originals. I believe getting officially certified replacement birth certificates and marriage certificates can be extremely difficult. Good luck!

Good news, well for me anyway. The ex has given in to greed and has already sent the original birth certificate and her id card copy for the bargain price of 4000baht.

Now as Mario said I can get a house book print out at about ampur right? But my ex tells me it's good for only 7 days. Obviously I will get it done within a week of my visa trip but just to confirm, the original printout is acceptable but right? That and the original certificate and her id copy. Does the copy have to have the visa request or her signature on?
