That is because bouncers here are excessively violent, and when they know that the worst that is going to happen is a 500 baht fine, such violence is unlikely to stop.

Nonsense, they would have got far worse if they had hit a doorman in the UK. They would have been on their way to hospital. Never take a swing at a bouncer, it can be fatal.

There was some unneccessary violence, but also a lot of restraint in the face of a torrent of abuse by one of the Chinese guys and the refusal of the two plonkers to quit. Now the obvious question: Where were Thailand's real heroes, the BIBs? This incident happened just a short distance away from their station in WS.

There should be no violence, it seemed as soon as one customer started to play up all the other security staff who must have been standing in the wings waded in.... very un-professional from so called trained security.

You learn to anticipate a strike coming and disable the attacker from doing so, using minimal force...

not wading in mob style punching & kicking Thai style.

TAT should increase the  number of Chinese speakers on WS. It should also be against the law to sell these guys so much liquor as that they'll get drunk out of their heads. AS usual, some sneaky Thai kicks to the head when the victims aren't looking, while the victims are talking to some other security guard. Thugs

Two of brothers were bouncers at Kings Cross in Sydney in the 70'/80's and both would have just moved these guys along, drunks are no match for the likes of bouncers, especially the ones that carry knuckle dusters in their pockets for when they are outnumbered, which is clearly not the case here, it's just gutless Thai's who couldn't knock a chop off a plate by himself as another poster mentioned.

Utterly gutless, uneducated scum, and I hope the Chinese media picks up on this, too show the Chinese how much their long lost cousins really love them, Thainess at it's best.

Latest I hear, it's the rick Indian's that are coming, God help us all ????

Don't know about Oz but it's reminiscent of the UK in the 70's. Bouncers weren't regulated. Some were just people trying to make some extra cash, some were just thugs looking for a chance to give someone a kicking. That all changed with licensed door and security staff, including ensuring they are first aid trained.

Drunks are indeed relatively easy to deal with. Move them out the premises and bye bye. But if they did clobber a bouncer then it would kick off. Seen some real idiots too drunk to know what they're doing and unable to defend themselves but still trying to start. Most bouncers just want rid of them but a few will take advantage and beat them senseless. Most Western countries wouldn't tolerate that behavior from bouncers anymore. But in developing countries - anything goes!

Yep, in my day, some did have things in their pockets. Quite a variety of people and capabilities too.

Here, it seems mob handed, short fuses, and immediate reaction is to swarm with fists, elbows and kicks. Off duty police, military, motor bike taxi boys?? But I doubt they've had one day's training.

booze by far the drug that brings the worst out in people, ask any cop in any city..

To be fair, and you're right, it's the easy availability. It's legal and supermarkets and discount booze shops make it cheap!

However, some illegal drugs can make people much much worse. And harder to control.

I doubt that. Door staff in the UK are strictly regulated and cctv coverage ensures they are recorded. The days of 'rent a thug" door staff giving people kickings have long gone. Of course people can and will defend themselves and that includes door staff. Take a swing and hit or kick a door person and you are going to be handled roughly, subdued and held pending arrival of the police to arrest you.

Door staff in the UK are professional and concentrate on getting people off the premises.

Most, if not all, UK police forces take a very very dim view of door staff behaving badly.

Yes yaba can make some people crazy but that and many other substance do not remove inhibitions quite like alcohol does. The effects on the prefrontal cortex which essentially guides our actions are disturbing and quite damaging. Throw in its social acceptance and you have a real recipe for dysfunctional behavior that costs our society in countless ways. imo hands down, booze is our most dangerous substance. I am not advocating going backwards, prohibition showed us the futility in that, but I really believe using some of the trillions spent on the war on drugs and educating people early on just how debilitating THIS drug is.

Bouncers here are nothing but hired thugs...no training no professional no education....

they are seething with hatred and looking for any opportunity to engage in violence against non Thais...

they do the exact opposite of what the role and job description of real bouncers....

The Chinese guy is lucky.

The bouncer was minding his business and the Chinese guy shoved him. Over here he would've gotten a worse beat down.

Really don't see why the bouncer got fined. He was defending himself against 2 guys and the other bouncers acted to protect him.

The karate kicks in you face is what awaits any drunk customer in Thai night clubs. Standard procedure everywhere. 4 guards will kick your face until you stop.
If you do not stop your final destination will end here. The Chinese were lucky to survive.

Personally I don’t think they beat him enough.  This Chinese a-hole should have been beaten until he had no front teeth, blood was running out of his ears and an ambulance had to be called to drag his sorry ass away.   Society shouldn’t have to tolerate people like this.   Anyone who gets so drunk in public that they can barely stand then start becoming belligerent deserve what they get.   Why should responsible people who frequent bars like this have to put up with f@cking morons like this guy.   I would wai the bouncers and tell them next time don’t stop until he’s unconscious then you’ll have no more trouble from him and maybe next time he will think twice before being an a-hole.   Sadly though he probably won’t.

Kudos to the big bouncer that came out with the white shirt and pulled back the other bouncers.

AND they mention today that Chinese tourists numbers are falling drastically. No wonder. Next the Indian tourists, then all that's left is the Farang who have been loyal for so many years - but I'm not holding my breath.

You actually have it upside down, the falangs are already well down and the areas formerly catering to them need to shift their focus.

Those who believe Pattaya is only used by Western mongers really know nothing. Check Hwy 7 at weekends.

Wild dogs employed, acting like wide dogs.
