A vocational school student lost the tip of his left ring finger when the door of an air-conditioned bus slammed shut while he was exiting at a bus stop in Samut Prakan Thursday, police were told.

The student, Atthawee Kaewthanatsiri, 18, a Saowapha Vocational College student, filed a complaint with the Phra Pradaeng police station on Thursday night.

The student said he and his girlfriend took the orange bus No 82, which is a privately-run bus under concession from the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, from Pak Klong Talad area in Bangkok to his house in Samut Prakan at 4.05pm.

Atthawee said when the bus reached the Phra Pradaeng Intersection, the couple got down but the door slammed closed while his left hand was still clinging to the door. He said the bus conductor had told them to rush to get down even before the bus had stopped completely.

He did not take note of the serial number on the side of the bus.

Atthawee sought treatment at Paolo Phra Pradaeng Hospital before filing the complaint.

Police will check the schedules for No 82 route and review security camera footage at the spot in order to take legal action against the bus driver.

This is serious injury and I hope that the company operating the bus gets severely punished for this, on top of covering all his expenses and compensation to hopefully do something to stop this kind of behaviour of their drivers in the future.

Dream, dream, dream la la la laaaaa. Not in this lifetime!
