Passport to send mail

Featured Replies

I just went to the Post Office here in Pattaya and I sent something via Ems to Bangkok. The Clerk asked to see my Passport before sending it. What is this?? Is this new??

This rule has been in force for a few years. Thais have to show their ID, which they can scan on a wee reader. Us foreigners need to show something better. I just show a picture of my passport in my phone.

They ask for this since at least two years.

You can also show your Thai driving license instead of passport

I have never had to produce ID for sending EMS letters or parcels at at a post office,  but I use my driving licence to collect.

I usually get asked when sending parcels, not letters.
