And he was not supposed be riding on the bridge anyway according to the report but guess he thought that did not apply to him because he was a relative of a "celebrity". Some poor chap died, RIP, whether he was a relative of a celebrity or not why does Thai press always mention such irrelevances ?

thus the headline should have been "british man dies" only for george michael ???

The rider's body was taken to Chulalongkorn Hospital for autopsy.

Cause of death.............he got his head taken off.

For 2 years those bridges were on my way home. Many careless motorcycles

take those bridges as fast tracks. I’m sure Mr BMW was riding high speed, rush to death. Perhaps his head cut off by still dividers, maybe.

RIP, how do you hit a bridge? Maybe way too much speed.

Annoyingly they report that bikes are not allowed on the bridge. I think that's annoying - there are few accidents caused because there are bikes on bridges, except the stupid ones that are on big bikes going way too fast or small bikes going way too slow in the middle of the road.

I guess the 'celebrity' link is relevant to associate him with the hedonistic moneyed idiotic elite that think that if they can afford a fast car or bike, they have the right to do <deleted> they like.

He's dead because he broke Rule #1: never ride on an empty head.

Big deal ... "Celebrities relative" .... That pretty much accounts for all of Thailand ... Maybe they realize they are now not immortal .. Or soon to be reincarnated the way they all drive. As above ... Natural selection at it's finest. Na Khrap!!!!!

Quick way to go. I doubt he felt much. Perhaps there was a good reason that "riders are forbidden from going on that particular bridge".

he will have left plenty of red stuff on the road !!!

There are some gruesome pics floating around social media. One is of his head still in the helm, eyes still open. Looks like he didn’t even have time to blink.

why an autopsy?  Even a Thai Doctor, dumb as they often are,  should be able to tell that a missing head is a good indicator as to the cause of death?

I know that they need to check for drugs and alcohol, but that is not an autopsy.

Actually it is, it is the Morticians job to withdraw the blood  and stomach contents for analysis. Doctors deal with live ,people

99% of all the traffic and padestrian law breakers are Thai so you can define actual idiots ????

Autopsies ordered by the state can be done by a county coroner, who is not necessarily a doctor. A medical examiner who does an autopsy is a doctor, usually a pathologist.

I think it's relevant that he is a relative of Celebs. Thais worship these people as if Gods and if just one person can take notice and prevent an accident in the future, this would serve a good purpose.

Perhaps they are trying to determine as to whether his head was missing before he hit the bridge ?

They’ll likely find there was very little inside it...

he went on  the bridge he knew he was not allowed.now he is dead  and adds to the numbers now.as It look like he hit the metal barriers knocked  the handlebar clean off and he hit the metal barriers,he was going to fast and I imagine has done it before but this time was the last.RIP in peace is about what is left now

So what are they supposed to do if riding along a highway, and a bridge comes up. Do a U turn, drive wrong way back to an exit, leave the highway and find a small road which will lead back onto the highway, then re-join until the next bridge.

They do all of that and more now. There is not a collective brain amongst the whole lot of them

From Thai social media, seems like he's not the first biker to have a deadly accident there. More like the fifth or so in a relatively short span. As expected, ghost stories and theories are a hit. So obviously, yes, he did go where he wasn't supposed to - and as usual, not much by way of traffic police enforcement either.

Regarding the celebrity thing - Mrs. worked with him years ago, when he was making his first steps in the industry after returning from studies abroad. As she recalls, not a bad sort for a rich boy and rather mild in manner. She did remember he liked driving fast...

IMO, using the celebrity angle to push the story is alright - on the off-chance that something useful will sip through to the general public. Nobody seems to pay much attention to "ordinary" people getting killed on a daily basis.

Nothing useful will "slip through" as you put it. The celebrity thing was just put forward in an attempt to say he was important to Thai society. The rich and  favoured can go out take drugs, kill policeman and leave the scene of accidents yet nothing has slipped through.  If it had a done the average Somchai in his pick-up would not be doing the self same thing anymore.

I'm not quite sure why that bridge is restricted when there is another one right next to it that is not. It is only a few hundred meters long and is an overpass for Pridi Panomyong road.

But does have an S~bend in it and the road in that part is like corrugated iron! If a bike hit it at speed it would go flying!

There are a few deaths a year on this bridge so I guess that is why they ban motorcycles. I guess it's easier than fixing it?

The speed limit on it is 50km/hr.

Another thing you find on it almost nightly is trash. I mean big bags of trash! People use it as a dumping ground. He could have hit a bag or liquid from the trash bags along there.

There is no other way over the klong than to take the bridge. All the motorcycles take the bridge. You have to go all the way back to Ekamai to cross the klong or way out by klong tan police station towards the airport.

I think the article is not clear. Yes, you have to use the bridge to cross the canal but the accident occurred on the flyover which is higher up than the canal bridge. ( check it out on street view. )

That you're interpretation, and you're welcome to it. Me, I think the celebrity angle was more to do with pushing the story for circulation/ratings.

And no, I don't think it will change anything much - but if it gets through to a few people, that's better than none. Reading about "the average Somchai" having a deadly accident doesn't even register with most.

why? just bc you can ride your care easily?

motorbike riders also pay tax and should have equal rights with the other motorists on roads.

and the ban on some bridges and under passes for motorbikes is a big b s and an ancient law.

Authorities instead should design those bridges with motorbikes in mind!

killer guard rails cutting riders for many decades especially in Europe are being replaced with ones that dont cut riders in half!

RIP and patience for his family. sad accident indeed.
