Has anyone tried switching to Vegetarian food for 2 weeks?

nobody in  their right mind eats just 100% meat and nothing else.   Who would do that?

Anyway just joking I believe in a balanced diet without too much processed stuff (if you want to be lean and healthy)

Having said that I am convince that everyone is a bit different and not everything works the same for everyone. But that its based on blood type is just crazy. 

Yes, I have noted that you consider yourself an expert on diet, personally at 64 years old I have never been on a diet or counted a calorie - no need.

Sport nutrition is light years ahead of the medical profession/industry, lets be honest "big Pharma" are not going to sell many drugs to a healthy population are they! there business model is to treat/mask illness with drugs, encouraging people to eat healthily is certainly not part of their agenda.

Genetic & blood typing is based on very sound principals, ("everyone is different") which you question, no doubt you will also think that the latest research where diet is tailored by DNA testing is also nonsense, personally I don't.

There are a lot of different opinions out there regarding diet as a lot of money is at stake, we have people stating that they only eat a vegetarian diet, I can believe that, but I cannot believe they are truly healthy. We have always been meat eaters, doubtless not as much as some eat these days and most certainly meat in the past was of better quality as food is now produced for maximum profit, not sustenance.

You don't have to debate anything with anyone here. All the information about health and nutrition, unnecessary cruelty and merciless slaughter of animals is on the Internet. If you choose to ignore the consensus that is up to you.

Blood type is too general, I certainly don't oppose the idea that everyone is different (up to a certain extent). I have actually done genetic testing for sports and food. That is far more refined then the blood group diet. (still at its infancy though but promising the results i got back were pretty much what I already knew about my body) would have been more useful years ago (when it was not available). 

 

We have not been meat eaters we have been omnivores. Not sure why you think we are meat eaters. Our teeth and our intestines are far different from pure meat eaters. If you mean we have always eaten meat then I can agree with you. But certainly not exclusively meat eater. 

 

I tried it all and am lean enough to prove it (still want leaner). But if i let go and eat crap like pizza's and other fast foods all the time I will be out of shape in a few months. So what you eat is important. 

 

I like science I like testing things out and i like researching stuff about food and exercise. Still stuff like Keto did not work for me or at least not better as eating carbs (and much of the real science says the same thing keto has only a marginal edge if one is comparing it to healthy carbs and high proteins for sports people it is not that great if you want to build muscle). But it works for some people so i see it as viable just not for everyone as we are all different.

 

Anyway IMHO the blood group diet is bogus far to general (and I have given the scientific proof already), genetic testing certainly far better but needs to improve.

 

I don't need to count calories anymore I know ball park what i need and when I don't need to lose weight there is no need for me to stick to anything but eating healthy no processed carbs no sugary drinks. But I certainly tried counting calories at first to know what i need. I unfortunately have a slow thyroid and nothing to do about it as the medicine for it keep me awake. So even though I am at a disadvantage i stay lean now that i know how to eat. Now on a diet just to see how lean i can get (fitness model lean) not for health just to have a goal for working out and eating right.

Yes i choose to ignore it given the amount of meat i eat it does not even add up to a whole pig in 3 years or more. So my impact is not that big. Impact of us humans displacing animal habitat is far bigger.

I will ignore the only one pig in three years you eat that lives and dies unnecessarily - how much impact do you think there is about all the others??

Look I am only responsible for what I do.. and by weight that is about one pig in 3 years probably even less. So I don't feel that bad about it and what others do is their own choice. Freedom of choice.

I wish I could find some posts like that could really help against my insomnia. Next time point a few out preferably not my own as I read those and they don't make me sleep. I tried yours but they are to short and lack substance.

Yes E-Z. Went vegan over 29 years ago. BEST decision of my life. Healthy...wholesome...satisfying in every way. Same weight and build as in college. Much easier now than 3 decades ago!

 

To each their own...but personally wouldn't ever consider a speck of cheese/dairy nor any type of animal flesh, embryos or sealife unless my life absolutely depended on it. ????

I went vegetarian on my return from uk earlier this year, a month of drinking and over eating meant i ballooned in wieght. After six weeks back here on rice and veg i lost 4.5kg didnt really miss the meat at the time although back eating it now.

Suggestion for the posters who believe that vegan food is not tasty and doesn't have variety:

 

If in Bangkok, have a meal at May Veggie Home:

Or I was about to also suggest Vegan Heaven 2, but just read on HappyCow.net:

"Second branch of Vegan Heaven, changed name in June 2019 and became a fully vegan pizzeria."

Haven't tried it's new incarnation, but looking forward to it and expect it to be delicious.

The owner has another CM restaurant, I believe her 1st, this one vegetarian - Taste from Heaven. Haven't yet gotten there.

 

 

These are only 2 restaurants. There are tons of others.

( I dined at many in CM, but the only one I ate at in Bangkok was May's. Several times).

Happycow.net lists vegetarian and vegan restaurants with reader reviews.

The free version of the phone app gives a max of the last 3 (or maybe it's 5) reviews of each restaurant.

The pay app gives access to all the reviews. (The only phone app I've ever paid for).

You think our teeth are carnivorous (or vegetarian i.e. flat)?  we can eat raw meat or we have to cook it to be palatable?  there is NO argument for meat eating especially if you have concerns for world hunger or a smidgen of understanding the hell animals go through to satisfy your lust for cooked flesh.

Interesting FYI... 

 

Differences between carnivores and herbivores. 

 

Nearly all animals have canine teeth regardless of diet. The hippopotamus is strictly an herbivore and has the largest canines of all. Camels have large canines too, as do other herbivores. 


1. Carnivores have sharp molars/humans and herbivores are flat
2. Carnivores have claws and paws/humans and herbivores hands or hooves
3. Carnivores have large oral cavities/humans small
4. Carnivores have short digestive tracts/humans and herbivores long
5. Carnivores pant to cool the body/humans and herbivores sweat
6. Carnivores lap liquids/humans and herbivores sip
7. Carnivores produce their own vitamin C/humans and herbivores get it from their diet
8. Carnivores don't chew much and saliva doesn't have digestive enzymes/humans and herbivores chew and saliva does have digestive enzymes
9. Carnivores are quick and cunning and kill with claws and teeth/humans are not and don't
10. Carnivores kill then eat raw meat/most humans buy pretty packages of pre-killed meat and usually cook it.

Vitamin B12 is really the only one and the body stores it, so not much is needed...but agreed it is essential.

I agree a meatless diet for me would be pure misery.

 

Totally ridiculous and unfounded claim. I agree that Indian veg(an) food is awesome...but so is the Thai food right here! Just as good and perhaps even better than Indian. Just as easy too. All Thai dishes can be made scrumptiously spicy and vegan. There is even a word for it..."Jay" or "Je" or "J". เจ

China is not too bad either, tho not on par with Thailand or India. Mid-East countries also serve up some very tasty veg(an) meals too.

A few things to note about adding psyllium husks (essentially this is Metamucil) to your daily regimen.

 

First of all, it’s beneficial in a number of ways:

 

* Promotes bowel regularity

 

* Linked to reduction of colon cancer

 

* Provides a feeling of fullness (especially helpful when taken 

   between lunch and dinner time to prevent snacking)

 

*  It can totally REDUCE YOUR CHOLESTEROL (as it binds with and 

    “escorts” dietary cholesterol out of the body).  Some folks are 

     able to get off statin medications altogether with psyllium.

 

This is pretty great news, doncha’ think?  And it’s a sensible adjunct to anyone who’s looking to drop a kilo-or ten.

 

HOWEVER, one should start with a low dose of psyllium, followed by a glass or two of water, and work up to higher quantities of this supplement, as tolerated. 

 

“Too much too soon” can result in abdominal bloating, nausea, and godawful farting.  Also, psyllium taken with inadequate water can result in constipation.

 

ALSO (and this is extremely important), psyllium MUST be taken two-plus hours before or after any medications, supplements, or vitamins.

 

Why?  Because just as psyllium “escorts” cholesterol out of the gut (prohibiting its absorption), it can do the same thing with meds and supplements: it binds with the meds and sends them outa town before they can absorb and do their job.

 

Psyllium is wonderful!  Highly recommended!

 

Just follow the sensible guidelines above, and all should be good.

Drink LOTS of water with psyllium husks. Should drink plenty of water regardless, especially in tropical climates...but essential to drink lots of water with psyllium for the full benefit and to prevent the opposite (blockage) from happening.
