A man out foraging in a cave with relatives was stuck in a rock crevice for nine hours before he was eventually released by rescue workers at the weekend.

The drama happened in the Boke cave in the Palm Pattana sub-district of Satun in Thailand's far south.

Natthanon, 20, had been out foraging and had split up from two relatives when he fell down between rocks and got stuck. He was not located until 6 hours later.

When 20 personnel from Rom Sai rescue arrived an hour later at the remote area it took them a further two hours to get him free.

They managed to lubricate the area around him with oil so that he could be pulled up.

He was described as being exhausted in the Sanook story.

Thank goodness he was rescued. Would have been a horrible slow death at a young 20 yrs old. Kudos to his rescuers. Hope he does not have nightmares about being trapped - such a common phenomena after similar events.

Hope you have a full recovery Natthanon...

Moral here is always carry your KY on your person not left at home in a drawer.

Yes, just in case you get stuck in a crack somewhere, best wishes to the young fellow, must have been a nightmare predicament to be in!
