LGBT people are 'being made homeless due to religion'

Nearly half of young LGBT people who are left homeless after coming out are from religious backgrounds.

 

That's according to research by the Albert Kennedy Trust (AKT), which supports young people who are at risk of homelessness.

 

It suggests that out of nearly three in four LGBT people rejected by their families, 45% identify as being from a faith background.

 

The Trust says the majority are from Muslim and Christian families.

We like to think that because in many western countries the archaic laws against same sex activities are removed that society is more accepting, but religion still causes harm to others.

I find the prurient fascination that religion has in peoples sexual activities really baffling.

What ever happened to "treat others as you would like to be treated"?

Yes this is still common. How parents can have children and disown them over their sexual orientation makes me wonder if parents should be screened first for fitness.

It is not only happening in Muslim communities, but the "evangelical conservative" christians are equally as toxic.

Religion is responsible for so much damage to humanity, yes in some cases great acts of kindness, and charity, but nearly always at a cost

I grew up in area without many Muslims so the cases I have known of children being disowned are from Christian families. Protestant/fundamentalist specifically. Also Mormon. It's definitely a major cause of homelessness in gay youth and of course they're often driven to drugs and prostitution. Maybe people think Jews are liberal on these issues, but with some of the more ultra religious sects they will even have a formal ceremony for gay children the same as if they had died. 

 

Here's a good charity dealing with these issues after the youths become homeless. Not only LGBTQ of course.

LGBT is only a lobby group,

they just use gay/lesbian/... to make their own buisness,
