Got 2-year extension of stay + work permit

So I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I got a 2-year extension of stay together my work permit. I thought only 2-year work permits were available, with yearly renewals for extension of stay. So is that multi-year extension of stay a new thing?

The immigration officer also told me company owners can get up to 10-year extension at a time. That may be limited to BOI companies though.

Your visa extension is the date on your contract. If its a 2 year contract then you have 2 years.

Just check your work permit expire date to be sure. But it will be for good 2 years most likely. But you might need to pay double of a normal work permit (not sure).

Yes, they paid 6000 Baht (2x 3000B) for work permit, and 1900 Baht for extension. The company staff asked how much for extension, so it looks like it was the first time the company did it for 2 years.
