Residents on Rama II Road troubled by 2 years of construction works

 

 

Due to construction work, required to upgrade Rama II Road (Highway 35), which began in June and are expected to be completed by 2020, local residents along the route have to cope with worsening traffic congestion and air pollution.

 

A woman waiting at a bus stop said she is now having to wait over 30 minutes for a bus so she can get to the Social Security office, which is just 7 kilometres away. The bus was late due to heavy traffic around the construction site.

 

“This may be evening rush hour and raining, but I get really angry sometimes” she said, trying to figure out how much longer she would have to wait.

Is this an old news story?  There's been construction blocking Rama II road for at least a couple of years already!

It was on here a couple of weeks ago due to a demo against the slow work. Drove up there just after and it seems like some of it has only been going on for a couple of weeks, not two years. Traffic was not much worse than anywhere else though.

can build a 7 km road section in two years! in most countries, that is a 3 months job done in 3 shifts 24/7 on such a major road!

If authorities could choose a contractor that can do this or couldn't plan this accordingly before, they are responsible for that mess.

and let people suffer for years! this includes shops and businesses by rama 2 road as well.

same around Charan Sanitwong road.

They are trying to build a less than 1 km underpass and it has been almost f in 10 years! all business around bankrupt years ago.

all resident living there suffer.
