Pheu Thai’s former deputy agriculture minister joins Palang Pracharat party

Opposition Pheu Thai party has been dealt with yet another blow as its former MP for the northeastern province of Si Sa Ket and former deputy agriculture minister, Mr. Pornsak Charoenprasert, defects to the government’s core Palang Pracharat party.

 

Pornsak, who was reportedly recruited by Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Palang Pracharat’s chief MP, said today (Wednesday) that he was not forced or pressured to switch sides, rather it was his own judgement that led him to quit Pheu Thai. Pornsak said he has known Suchart since 2011.

 

“Nobody knew I would quit the party (Pheu Thai) because I had never thought about it before. When Suchart persuaded me about a week ago, I told him I would think about it” said the former MP, adding that what he fears most about switching parties would be accusations of having vested interests involved in his defection.

How can you promote democracy one day and support a dictatorship the next.

 

His snout must have really missed it's place in the trough.

A traitor to Pheu Thai supporters and those who voted for him.

By buddying up to the PM he will undoubtedly get a top job in a ministry as a reward; just like other double-crossers from the Democrats and the Bhumjaithai Party.

Brains for any ministerial position in the Prayut government is not a prerequisite.

the most interesting story in not quoted above, it's in the last 2 paragraphs, and explains plainly everything:

"She said she had been informed by Mr. Pornsak that his resignation from the Pheu Thai party was connected to a criminal case pending against him, adding that the use of criminal cases as a tool to pressure opposition MPs or former MPs to defect to the Palang Pracharat party is not uncommon.

Sudarat questioned the propriety of using a criminal case as leverage to entice MPs or ex-MPs to defect in exchange for having their case dropped."

I think the Cosa Nostra could learn something from this lot.

Yes and thats probaly how this 19 party coalition government was formed. Lucky the pm is in direct control of the police and can have charges dropoed at will. Just think of the quality government we are going to get. [emoji22]

Wow, if he didn't switch sides his criminal case would go to court!

Now it will keep being put off and put off as long as he follows orders. 

A rare example (possibly) of it not always being about money......

Similar to hard core UDD Issan Rambo Suporn who has his criminal charges dropped for switching to PPP. The other 6 UDD leaders who faced similar charges for the ASEAN summit debacle will face the court. Not at all rare.

Most politicians I know have vested interests in something, Thailand it seems the priority.

If he goes to jail he can't spend the money so in the end it's always about the money,sorry it was nearly a rare example of it not always being about the money but not quite(possibly).

Probably because he knows, as most do, the PTP, part of Shin Family plc, isn't the remotest bit democratic or interested in democracy.

 

Simply moving from one gang to another.

Providing we can believe anything the chosen Thaksin puppet Sudarat says of course!

 

Interesting though that so many PTP MPs seem to have criminal cases. Maybe they model themselves on their political employers 555!

 

The Shins tried to coerce Abhisit to back Thaksin's whitewash so they'd drop the murder charges against him if you remember. So a tactic used by all.
