I see one once a week for 30 minutes. If you go through the public system and prepare to wait, it will be cheaper. You have zero wait times in general going private and if you are needing help, I have found most psychiatrists here see a lot of people with alcohol and drug problems, so they can help a lot. If you are in Chiang Mai, I can advise Dr Kittiwan.

upu2
Sounds like much of your depression you have brought on yourself. It happens I know but in order to get a more positive attitude you need to accept what the problem is and then what steps no matter how hard you need to take. Cut the drink it certainly wont help you then you will see the world in a totally different light.

All these problems, and you seem to be aware of them. The first question will be, why in the world you have not been seeking professional help? There is nothing to be ashamed of with that. Many people need to talk to a professional about their problems to sort them out. You say that you are only 33, and single due to that you cannot find a girlfriend or afford one. Looks to me that you have tried to move to Thailand before you sorted out your life. That´s not a possibility. Even if the money is there, that is not going to make you happy. The two core problems in this problem seems to be a lack of self confidence as well as a major drinking problem. These two things work very well together, due to that they both speed up the process to reach rock bottom. Your self confidence is telling you to drink to be able to better relate to friends, girls and life. Your confidence is fooling you and leading you on a disaterous path in life. On the other hand, your drinking problem continues to lower your self confidence, due to that everytime the great feeling diappears the real life seems to be harder and harder to cope with. Is there any underlying problems with economy too? I know some people have money, and get in problem with life anyway. Some try to do more than they can and get in problem and depression out of the inpossibility to achive their goals and dreams. Are you also having problems with your possibilities to stay regarding to anxiety over getting your visas? I am not any kind of professional in any of these matters, just trying to use common sense. I can not help you with what professional can. what I can do, is to be someone you can talk too. If you feel better talking about this through private messages that´s ok by me. I am sure there must be some chances for a 33 year old guy, that just having a bad streak in life. Good answer. I can't believe all the 'drunken barstool expat' answers making fun. The guy sounds near suicidal and all he gets is abuse, even from veteran forum posters. Christ, if you have nothing to add other than twisting the knife, why not ignore and just stffu? I guess just happy to see someone more disillusioned than themselves and their sad little lives. Social anxiety debilitating. I had it since I was a teenager, when I hit 30 with no girl friend, no friends it hit me. When you have social anxiety you get this fear just being around people, talking is near on impossible. It took me a year of medication and therapy to begin getting over it. It's now been 7 years since when I first seen the doctor. My advice is go see the australian doctor, medicare will pay for the shrink and medication if you choose to go that path. Join a gym, or some sort of social club as soon as possible. Getting off your phone and/or computer is a huge help, don't drink.. 3

Popular Post spidermike007
You need to look deep within, and start doing some major work on yourself. Just sitting around and observing, and moaning about your sad state of affairs, and your lack of capacity, is going to only cause your hole to get deeper. Life is not easy for anyone. Money does not make you happy. It only helps you to address your problems more effectively. I know an awful lot of wealthy people who are miserable. I do agree financial struggles are miserable. But, you probably have the power and the will to change that. Do something. Act like a man. Re-invent yourself. Be creative. Show some initiative. We get what we reap. I do not believe fortune is an accident. Neither do I believe misery is an accident. Take some control of your life.
