BANGKOK, 2nd August 2019 (NNT) The Royal Thai Army and the Australian Army have joined forces to hold this year’s Exercise Chapel Gold, an annual bilateral military exercise aimed at enhancing the two countries relationship and military capabilities. The exercise this year is taking place at Vibhavadi Rangsit Military Camp in Surat Thani.

About 100 military personnel from the Australian Army today joined troops from the 25th Infantry Regiment, in the opening ceremony of Exercise Chapel Gold 2019 at Vibhavadi Rangsit Military Camp, Muang district, Surat Thani province, which was presided over by the 5th Infantry Division Deputy Commander Col Uthit Anantananon, and Commander of the 7th Brigade Brigadier Andrew Hocking.

Exercise Chapel Gold 2019 is taking place from 31st July until 6th August 2019, using the Royal Thai Army’s 3rd Infantry Battalion, 25th Infantry Regiment’s Vibhavadi Rangsit Military Camp in Surat Thani, and training area in Sichon district, Nakhon Si Thammarat as training bases. The exercise consists of cross training exercises (CTX) at four training stations inside Vibhavadi Rangsit camp, with armed weapons training, and field training exercises (FTX)

The training scenario includes anti and counter-insurgency operations which will be taking place in Sichon district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, where troops from both countries will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, enhancing the armies’ capabilities and relationship through highly-engaging activities and training provided to each soldier.
