Does anyone know where in Bangkok a simple childrens tricycle ( for 2yo) can be bought .

Don't want one with a lot of extra unwanted extras ie umbrellas and the like.

Simple, safe and unbreakable tricycles can not be found there, unless you are lucky to stumble over a new stock at the premium shops (prices same as in the West).

600-1200B tricycles are everywhere (Lotus), poor quality and with bolts and screws poking out.

Not finding anything suitable in the provinces, we bought one at Central for 3,000 baht or so, yes, expensive. Good feature: It came with a tall handle at the back, which allowed you to push the tricycle without stooping. Bad feature: The pedals were linked to the front wheel, making it very hard for my 2-yr-old to learn to pedal. She lost interest and never got on to it again. On a whim, my wife refurbished an old bicycle with new wheels (and a set of training wheels), and within minutes my daughter, now three, was doing wheelies in the yard. Good feature: The bicycle is of such poor quality that the bolts and nuts are all frozen rusted, and nothing falls off!! For the record, my daughter still can't ride the expensive trike; I guess it wasn't intended as a training bike, but more as a pram.
