7 vocational students charged in connection with explosion in Rama 9 area

 

 

Seven vocational students have been charged with the possession and transport in public of explosives and knives following a blast in the Rama 9 area of Bangkok on Friday in which two municipal workers were injured.

 

Citing CCTV footage and witness accounts, the metropolitan police say that the students hid a “Ping Pong” bomb in shrubs on Rama 9 Soi 57/1. The device subsequently exploded, injuring the two municipal workers working in the area.

 

However, some of the suspects argued that they had just passed through the area, as they were shown riding motorcycles in the CCTV footage.

So, am I reading correctly that this incident is unrelated to the other bombs, that it was just coincidental that this happened while other devices were exploding around the city?

 

Or are they saying it was linked; making it a group comprising on one side a group of vocational students and the other by two Thais who allegedly changed clothes 3 times travelling across the city, and were heading south when they were apprehended?

 

If it is indeed unrelated, the students are going to be (justly so IMO) in a world of hurt for playing with home-made devices.

They are saying these kids did it and have substantial video proof the kids were there. Motives or relationship to other bombings were not mentioned. Perhaps they will find some distant connection between all of those bombs found that will allow them to continue their prosecution unhampered. My guess is that if more bombings happen then they will have a defense if the gov continues trying to prosecute them.
