BANGKOK (NNT) Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha today condemned the bombing incidents in Bangkok on Friday, and called on the public to keep an eye on any suspicious looking activities and give tip-offs to authorities.

The PM said he found these latest incidents unacceptable and ordered Police Commissioner General Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda to take care of the injured, He called on everyone to stay alert and provide information about any suspects to authorities.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon, instructed security officials to step up measures to ensure public safety at important economic occasions and in crowded areas including various government premises. At Government House, the number of policemen at each sentry point has been increased. The authorities were ordered to be more watchful of passers-by.

More police cars have been dispatched to patrol Bangkok streets around the clock. Uniformed and plainclothes policemen have checked out the neighborhood of Government House. Dusit police station was ordered to increase street patrols at night.

However, Internal Security Operations Command Spokesman, Maj Gen Thanathip Sawangsaeng said today that special zone restrictions under the Internal Security Act of 2008 have not been declared as yet.

The prime minister has instructed the authorities to coordinate intelligence-gathering operations with the police as a major force in the areas where the incidents occurred. The police chief assured the public that the police were working at the full extent of their abilities. He called on the people not to panic and to watch out for any suspicious-looking objects or suspects and call Hotline 1374 as necessary around the clock.

Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Assawin Khwanmuang has set up a directing center to follow up on the situation both day and night, and appointed officials who will report to him regularly. Elsewhere, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Traffic and Transportation Department was ordered to monitor all spots where CCTV cameras are installed.

The chiefs of all Bangkok districts were instructed to be watchful and immediately call the police if any suspicious-looking objects or individuals were spotted. The people are advised to help keep watch as well, and call respective district offices if feeling concerned, or call 191 at any time. Citizens have been advised not to touch or relocate any suspicious-looking objects for obvious safety reasons.

I recall that CCTVs around Bangkok were of poor quality or NOT working!

Hopefully the issues of CCTVs is NOW resolved and clear images can be used against these "Crazies"!

It's not about having a strong baht it's about safty of all and everything!

Does “The Jack of All Trades” still maintain that there is nothing to worry about?

May be the way to bring back Military Rule, public security being the reason.
