The Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has launched its digital platform 'Living Airports' at Suvarnabhumi Airport, before connecting it to all six major airports in the country.

“The Living Airports software platform links the information technology systems of all airports and is part of our goal to become a full-scale digital organisation in the future,” said Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, president of the AOT at a press conference today.

If the application proves successful at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the platform will then be implemented at Don Mueang International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Hat Yai International Airport, Phuket International Airport, and Mae Fah Luang - Chiang Rai International Airport.

In management, the software can be used to facilitate traffic control through giving real-time reports on the numbers of passengers at specific locations.

Passengers will be able to gain access to information on flights, check-in rows, transportation services, shopping and dining as well as flight alerts.

AOT has also partnered with the CAT Telecom Plc (CAT) to offer free wifi at the six major airports in Thailand.

“This move is in line with the government’s agenda to make Thailand the leading hub for global aviation through digital transformation,” said Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, senior executive vice president of marketing and services at CAT.

I thought for a moment we might be seeing Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones from The Terminal, with the character Viktor Navorski living at Suvarnabhumhi.

for talking borrucks .. I was hoping to have got through an article that for once didn't include the word " hub " but that delusion was shattered just afore the end .. As for the " living airports " bit that's a load of gonads as well ..

Perhaps they're hoping to play on the lyrics of the old song 'Living Doll'.

Unless of course it might be a misprit and due to the long immigration queues, the AOT meant to say 'live-in airport' - as an instruction, while waiting in the queue.

I think it should be "Airport Living" considering the recent immigration queues

But it didn't mention Thailand 4.0 did it?

In the interests of reducing Thailand's carbon footprint, instead of enhancing airports shouldn't they be closing them?

Or is Thailand another backward nation of climate change deniers?
