PHUKET: An electrical short circuit is suspected of starting a fire at a closed restaurant in Samkong, on the north side of Phuket Town, this afternoon (Aug 30).

SCB stresses need for digital transition

Thaksin acquitted in 7-year-old Krungthai loan case

The Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Positions on August 30 acquitted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra of malfeasance over allegedly influencing the approval of a huge Krungthai Bank (KTB) loan to property giant Krisda Mahanakorn. The court also withdrew the arrest warrant for the 70-year-old fugitive.

More light-runners expected to be nabbed with new intersection cameras

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australia's Great Barrier Reef is in very poor condition because of climate change, over fishing and land clearing, a state agency said on Friday, as it downgraded the reef's status to the lowest level, which could jeopardise its World Heritage status.
