Central Village is open for business

Central Pattana is on Saturday (August 31) formally adding Central Village to its roster of shopping malls that includes Central Plaza, Central Festival and Central World.

 

 

CPN president and chief executive Preecha Ekkunagul and directors Suthikiatis Chirathivat and Sudhitham Chirathivat presided at the opening ceremony starting at 10.39am.

 

Central Village represents an investment of more than Bt5 billion investment and was five years in the planning.

 

Located near Suvarnabhumi Airport, it houses 150 retail stores carrying domestic and foreign being sold at discounts of 35 to 70 per cent year-round.

“Central Village answers the needs of all lifestyles,” said Preecha. “There are outlets for fashion items, IT gadgets, home décor, toys and sporting goods, as well as 40,000 square metres in Food Village. Outlets are arranged in different ‘villages’ and all buildings feature beautiful Thai modern architecture to accentuate Thai charms for foreign tourists.”

More than 2,000 customers joined the opening ceremony awaiting for Central Village's first reveal.

Central Village is accessible by MRT, taxis and private cars and also provides free shuttle services from Udomsuk BTS station, Central World and Suvarnabhumi.

 

Highlighted brands at the mall include Club 21, Ermenegildo Zegna, Etro, Michael Kors, Adidas Factory Outlet, Calvin Klein, Converse, Crocs, Guiardano, Jim Thompson Factory, L’Oreal Luxe, Quicksilver & Roxy & DC, Rip Curl, Swarosvski, Timberland, Toys R Us, Victoria’s Secret and Watch Station.

 

Set to open soon are outlets of Chloe, Coach, Kate Spade New York, Kenzo, Polo Ralph Lauren, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bath & Body Works, Harnn, Kipling, Onitsuka Tiger and Tommy Hilfiger.

This outdoor shopping mall is doomed: 1) the name brands are still expensive at these outlet malls 2) the location is far from public transportation & populated areas 3) Thai people want air conditioning- not  walking around or shopping in the hot temperatures. What works in the West doesn’t always work in Thailand.

No it isn't.  The nearest MRT station is about 30kms away.

A mere short walk for the gullible determined shopper.

Well that land dispute ended fast with a couple of more brown envelopes before grand opening. Well... Just pray, that a nasty nasty plane is not crashing on their property one day.....

I am sure Central Group the largest and most successful Shopping Centre developer in Thailand will take your advice on board..... Incidentally i am sure Siam Piwat the 3rd largest retail developer who are also developing one have not done their market research either. Pity none of them have master retail developer Toenail on their books.....
