Cara Delevingne has said her modelling career hasn't helped her acting

Cara Delevingne has revealed her background in modelling has made it difficult to become an actress because she was always "trying to look hot".

The supermodel turned her hand to acting in 2012 after landing a role in Anna Karenina.

But she has said that director Joe Wright had to constantly remind her to shake off techniques she had picked up from modelling.

The 27-year-old, who currently appears in Amazon Prime Video's new neo-noir fantasy series Carnival Row opposite Orlando Bloom, told Elle UK magazine: "Fashion really <deleted> me when it came to acting.

Hollywood stopped using hot women years ago. If you look at the movies there are no hot, or really beautiful women anymore in Hollywood films. Me too has cowed them into submission, and the majority of fat, rough looking American women are intimidated by beautiful women. Especially thin women. So, they are not used.

Cable TV is a different story. And independent films use some. Foreign films use alot more, though not as many as in the past. In Yellowstone alone, there were two beauties, and I am not referring to Kelly Reilly. She is an acquired taste.

That could be true, but not just unattractive- some are actually repulsive, like the large blond woman that has been in a few films recently. Horrid, aggressive, nasty- I won't go to any film with her in it.

Personally, I prefer good looking women with character, rather than hot women in movies. Pam Dawber comes to mind, as does Dana Delany ( China Beach ). Hot women wherever they are seem to be self entitled.

Based on what I have been seeing for the last decade, it does appear to be the case, that Hollywood is trying to avoid casting really beautiful women. I believe they are making a somewhat feeble and anemic attempt to protect their female audiences from being exposed to beauty, and making them feel inferior, thereby limiting ticket sales. I agree with what you are saying. They are trying their hardest to make fat acceptable, and fashionable in the US. It is a horrific trend, and one further sign of a culture in decline.

Cable TV on the other hand, is not following this pattern thankfully. Kelsie Asbille from Yellowstone is a good example of that. Name just one woman in a Hollywood film in the past few years that comes even close. She is beyond adorable.

I do not believe what Delevingne said. She is scary looking, and not hot on any level.

WE obviously differ on "hot" women.

IMO Delvingne is as hot as they sizzle, and your "babe" is just pretty, not hot at all.

Like music, hot women seem to be a thing of the past. I like 60s music and 60s actresses. Jane Asher was, and probably still is, DDG.

And Brigette Bardot, Sophia Loren, Faye Dunaway, Julia Ormond, Phoebe Cates, Jacqueline Bisset, Cheryl Tiegs, Vivien Leigh, Barbara Bach, Claudia Cardinalli, and so many others. There are so few really fine women these days in Hollywood films. I cannot even count three.
