I want to keep track of my daughter with regard to the internet and email.

Can anyone recommend a keylogger or tracker program which will

let me watch her so I rest easy knowing she is not getting in to anything

troublesome or dangerous ?

Any experience with one that you can recommend ?

Thanks

Really for the daughter or the girlfriend?

If it is for your daughter make sure to tell her you are going to be doing this, Its all a bit 1984, why not put the PC in teh lounge so you can see what she's doing.

A bit rash methinks, as Phil mentioned, try to go for the protective software out there. It'll keep her away from the nasty sites out there...

Peaking in the e-mails/messages send to schoolfriends etc is not exactly good parental guiding in my opinion

There's hardware like iBoss but you'd have to order it from the US. Making sure she's supervised while she's online is the most important thing. Also, don't freak out the first time she accidently gets a porn pic showing up on a search or something. She needs to be comfortable telling you something is wrong without worrying that you'll cut her off if you find out.

My recommendation :

1) turn on parental control on IE

2) get a parental control software

But spying on anyone's emails, even your daughter, is not love or care, but just a pervertion and maliciousness.

Trust, communication and exchange is the best. She's your daughter for god sake, not your pet !

I'm with you!

Information and education!

Her friends have computers too, to play together on. On every corner is an internet cafe. Inform and educate her about the good things AND the bad things of the Word Wide Web.

Under normal circumstances, yes. However if you strongly suspect something's wrong, you need to protect your kid before worrying about manners.

How old is the daughter ???

We were all kids once and how many of us told our parents every thing that we should have ???

If i suspect that my kids are doing any of the shit that I used to do when I was a kid, I will use winspy or some such program to find out. It is better than getting a call from the police that something has happened to them.

I did comment about the download of a lady called Tata Young but I have been assured she is a very popular Thai star.

The only thing I'd be worried about with Tata Young is her taste in music! :o

On topic though Vista also has parental controls built in the following mini-review is taken from www.consumersearch.com

The consumer versions of Windows Vista, Microsoft's new operating system, were just released at the end of January. They include integrated parental controls that may rival the best third-party standalone programs. While many websites and magazines devote a paragraph to parental controls as part of lengthy reviews of Vista, no one has yet compared Vista with commercial standalone programs. Based on those reviews and descriptions, the tools in Vista appear to have some major advantages over third-party products. Many programs, including some of the best, require annual subscriptions. Some of them, including Safe Eyes, ContentProtect and Net Nanny, will stop working if you fail to renew your subscription. Perhaps the presence of Vista will force companies to reconsider this annual-fee business model. Vista will automatically update and never require additional fees. Vista is also compatible with Intel-based Macintosh computers. If you are buying a new computer with Windows Vista, or plan to upgrade to that operating system, you might consider trying Vista's parental controls before investing in other software.
